Orissa High Court
The Orissa High Court is the High Courts of India, High Court for the Indian States and union territories of India, state of Odisha. The then Bengal Presidency was a vast province including present day Assam, Bihar, Jharkhand, Orissa, and West Bengal. It was difficult to administratively manage such a vast area, inhabited by people speaking in different languages and having different traditions. Administrative exigencies required separation of such areas which originally did not from part of Bengal. So, new province of Bihar and Orissa was formed on 22 March 1912. However, the said new province of Bihar and Bihar and Orissa was under the jurisdiction of Calcutta High Court. On 9 February 1916, in exercise of the powers under Section 113 of the Government of India Act, 1915, the King of England issued letters of patent constituting High Court of Patna. Odisha (English: , ), formerly Orissa ( the official name until 2011), is an Indian state located in Eastern India. It is the 8th largest state by area, and the 11th largest by population. Bihar and Orissa was a province of British India, which included the present-day Indian states of Bihar, Jharkhand, and Odisha. Vallabhdas Aidan Mohta (26 April 1933 – 3 July 2018) was an Indian Judge and former Chief Justice of Orissa High Court. Career Mohta was born in 1933 at Akola. Banwari Lal Hansaria (25 December 1931 ― 3 November 1997) was an Indian Judge and former judge of the Supreme Court of India. Career Hansaria completed his schooling in Sardarshahar and studied at Birla Arts College, Pilani. He passed M.A. from the Calcutta University and M.Sc. from the London School of Economics. Dambarudhar Pathak
Justice Dambarudhar Pathak (born 1 March 1924) was an Indian Judge and former Chief Justice of the Odisha High Court and Gauhati High Court. Career Pathak was born on 1 March 1924. He obtained B.A. degree from the Calcutta University in 1946 and LL.B. degree from the Gauhati University in 1953. In order to prosecute further studies in law, he went to United Kingdom. From London University, he obtained LL.M. degree in 1957. Prior to obtaining the post graduate degree, he became Bar at law from Lincoln’s Inn in 1956 and on completion of the advanced studies, he returned to India. He was enrolled as an Advocate in the Gauhati High Court in April 1958. From 1961, he also started to conduct cases before the Supreme Court of India. Ranganath Mishra
Ranganath Mishra (25 November 1926 – 13 September 2012) was the 21st Chief Justice of India, serving from 25 September 1990 to 24 November 1991. He was also the first chairman of the National Human Rights Commission of India. He also served as Member of Parliament in Rajya Sabha from the Congress Party between 1998 and 2004. Lingaraj Panigrahi was an Indian politician and former Chief Justice of Orissa High Court. He is the father of Pramod Panigrahi, former Law Secretary of Government of Odisha.
