''Original Doberman'' is the second studio album released by Jamaican rapper Shaggy. The album, released on July 1, 1994, came less than a year after his debut, ''Pure Pleasure'', but was in fact an unreleased record made circa. 1989–1990, as stated by the album sleeve, which states "to Shaggy and Rayvon—for making the album before going to War in Iraq" (both served in the Gulf War as members of the United States Marine Corps). The album was released in an attempt to cash-in on the success of ''Pure Pleasure'', but was a commercial failure, and failed to chart anywhere. The majority of the album was recorded in dub, and failed to emulate the style of more commercial recordings such as "Oh Carolina". "Bullet-Proof Buddy", "Jump and Rock", "Man a Yard" and "We Never Danced to the Rub-a-Dub Sound" had previously been released as independent singles in 1989 by producer Don Moodie. Orville Richard Burrell CD (born October 22, 1968), better known by his stage name Shaggy, is a Jamaican-American reggae rapper, singer, and songwriter who scored hits with the songs "It Wasn't Me", " Boombastic", "In The Summertime", "Oh Carolina", and "Angel". He has been nominated for seven Grammy Awards, winning twice for Best Reggae Album with ''Boombastic'' in 1996 and ''44/876'' with Sting in 2019, and has won the Brit Award for International Male Solo Artist in 2002. In 2007, he was awarded the Jamaican Order of Distinction with the rank of Commander. In 2022, he was awarded an honorary Doctor of Fine Arts degree from Brown University. Reggae
Reggae () is a music genre that originated in Jamaica in the late 1960s. The term also denotes the modern popular music of Jamaica and its diaspora. A 1968 single by Toots and the Maytals, " Do the Reggay" was the first popular song to use the word "reggae", effectively naming the genre and introducing it to a global audience. ''Boombastic'' is the third studio album released by Jamaican artist Shaggy. The album was released on July 11, 1995. The album spawned five singles: "In the Summertime", a remake of the Mungo Jerry hit, " Boombastic", which peaked at number 1 on the UK Singles Chart, at 3 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 and at number 1 on the U.S. R&B chart, "Why You Treat Me So Bad", the double A-side "Something Different" / "The Train Is Coming", and "Day Oh", which was released as a Japanese only single. ''Q'' was a popular music magazine published monthly in the United Kingdom. It was founded in 1986 by broadcast journalists Mark Ellen and David Hepworth, who were presenters of the BBC television music series ''The Old Grey Whistle Test''.
