Oreste Albertini
Oreste Albertini (28 March 1887 in Torre del Mangano – 7 July 1953 in Besano, Varese) was an Italian painter. He first attended the Scuola Civica Pavese at Pavia, but at the age of 13 became an Apprenticeship, apprentice to the fresco artist Cesare Maroni. Together they frescoed the church of Besano in Varese. In 1910, he enrolled in night classes at the school of decoration at the Umanitaria of Milan and the Brera Academy, paying for his courses by decorative painting and working as a machinist at factories. In 1923, he exhibited at the Brera. By the 1930s he arranged to market his works through Giuseppe Zecchini in Milan. After some paintings experimenting with Divisionism, he began painting landscapes of the Dolomites and vedute of the Varesotto (urban areas of Varese). Torre Del Mangano
Torre del Mangano is a frazione and the seat of the municipality of the Certosa di Pavia The Certosa di Pavia is a monastery and complex in Lombardy, Northern Italy, situated near a small town of the same name in the Province of Pavia, north of Pavia. Built in 1396–1495, it was once located on the border of a large hunting ... comune. The comune bore the name of Torre del Mangano until 1929, when the villages of Borgarello, Torriano and Torre del Mangano merged. They assumed the name of Certosa di Pavia because of the great notoriety of the charterhouse located in the nearby. The church of the local parish is dedicated to Saint Michael. Torre del Mangano is situated on the corner of what was once the Visconti Park. The remains of one of its gate are visible near the Saint Michael church. Divisionism, also called chromoluminarism, was the characteristic style in Neo-Impressionist painting defined by the separation of colors into individual dots or patches which interacted optically..Homer, William I. By requiring the viewer to combine the colors optically instead of physically mixing pigments, Divisionists believed they were achieving the maximum luminosity scientifically possible. Georges Seurat founded the style around 1884 as chromoluminarism, drawing from his understanding of the scientific theories of Michel Eugène Chevreul, Ogden Rood and Charles Blanc, among others.
