The Croatian War of Independence was fought from 1991 to 1995 between Croat forces loyal to the Government of Croatia—which had declared independence from the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (SFRY)—and the Serb-controlled Yugoslav People's Army (JNA) and local Serb forces, with the JNA ending its combat operations in Croatia by 1992. ''Narodne novine'' () is the official gazette (or newspaper of public record) of the Republic of Croatia which publishes laws, regulations, appointments and official decisions and releases them in the public domain. It is published by the eponymous public company. The Narodne novine started as the ''Novine Horvatzke'', first published on January 6, 1835, by Ljudevit Gaj, who created and printed the paper. The Croatian Parliament ( hr, Hrvatski sabor) or the Sabor is the unicameral legislature of the Republic of Croatia. Under the terms of the Croatian Constitution, the Sabor represents the people and is vested with legislative power. Drago Lovrić (born 2 December 1961) is a Croatian general who served as a chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Croatia. General Drago Lovrić holds Master of Science degrees in international relations, from Zagreb University and National Resource Strategy, from the Industrial College of Armed Forces of the U.S. National Defense University in Washington, which he attended from May 2003 to November 2004. In July 2012, he earned his doctorate in the field of national security. Predrag Fred Matić (born 2 June 1962) is a Croatian centre-left politician of the Social Democratic Party who has been serving as a Member of European Parliament since 2019. Bekim Berisha
Bekim Berisha ( hr, Bekim Beriša; 15 June 1966 – 10 August 1998) was a Kosovo Albanian soldier who gained prominence in the Yugoslav Wars. He served in the Croatian Army during the Croatian War of Independence. He subsequently fought in the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and later also in the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA), where he was named a general. The system of honours of the Republic of Croatia was established after the independence of Croatia in 1991.
