Order Of Menelik II
The Imperial Order of Emperor Menelik II is an Ethiopian order established in 1924 by then-Regent Tafari Makonnen, during the reign of Empress Zewditu I, in order to honor the memory of Emperor Menelik II. The Imperial Order was often referred to as the Order of the Lion, for the lion depicted in the center of the red and green cross. The honor was designed by the Parisian firm Arthus-Betrand, and is presented in five grades: Knight Grand Cross, Knight Commander, Commander, Officer and Member. Commander (commonly abbreviated as Cmdr.) is a common naval officer rank. Commander is also used as a rank or title in other formal organizations, including several police forces. In several countries this naval rank is termed frigate captain. Commander is also a generic term for an officer commanding any armed forces unit, for example "platoon commander", "brigade commander" and "squadron commander". In the police, terms such as "borough commander" and "incident commander" are used. Eyvind Bratt
Björn Axel Eyvind Bratt (30 June 1907 – 16 January 1987) was a Swedish diplomat. Early life Bratt was born on 30 June 1907 in Stockholm, Sweden, the son of Arnold "Arne" Bratt, a lector, and Amy (née Berggren). He began his career as an attaché at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in 1931. Career Bratt was appointed consul in New York City in 1946 and director at the Foreign Ministry in 1947. Bratt was secretary of the Committee on Foreign Affairs in 1949 and earned a Licentiate of Philosophy degree from Uppsala University the same year. He became consul (consul general's name) in Berlin in 1951 and in the same year he earned a Doctor of Philosophy degree from Uppsala University. Bratt was ambassador in Addis Ababa from 1953 to 1959, also accredited to Khartoum from 1957 to 1959, Pretoria from 1959 to 1963, Tehran and Kabul from 1964 to 1967 and finally in Dublin from 1967 to 1973. Sudharmono ( EVO: Soedharmono; 12 March 1927 – 25 January 2006), also known by his nickname, Pak Dar, was an Indonesian politician and army officer, who served as the 5th Vice President of Indonesia, under the New Order regime of president Suharto, serving from 1988 until 1993. Previously, he served in a number of positions in the government and military, including as the Chairman of Golkar, State Secretary of Indonesia, and a Lieutenant General in the army. Sudharmono was born on 12 March 1927, in Gresik, East Java. He completed his Middle School education in 1945. Following the Proclamation of Indonesian Independence, he dropped out from any further education to join the army in the Indonesian National Revolution. Abiye Abebe
'' Lij'' Abiye Abebe ( am, አብይ አበበ; born 1918 – 23 November 1974) was an Ethiopian politician and son-in-law of Emperor Haile Selassie. Biography Son of '' Liqa Mequas'' Abebe Atnaf Seggad, Abiye was born 1918 in Addis Ababa as a '' Lij''. He attended the Holeta Military Academy. In the 1940s and 1950s he was Minister of Defence, and later served as Minister of Justice and Minister of the Interior. He chaired the High National Security Commission during the Ethiopian Revolution until his arrest by the Derg on 16 July 1974. Lt. General Abiye was serving as Chief of the General Staff when he was arrested.
