Order Of Duke Domagoj
The Order of Duke Domagoj ( hr, Red kneza Domagoja) is the 8th most important medal given by the Republic of Croatia and is the nation's highest award for bravery. The order was founded on April 1, 1995. The medal is awarded for valor in combat. It is named after duke Domagoj of Croatia. Appearance and Wear The order comprises a pure silver oval, 40 mm high and 50 mm wide, in the middle of which kneels a naked archer, fashioned from gold, his right foot tucked under his buttocks, his left stretched out. Below the archer is a semi-circular ornament in the form of a wave with the inscription KNEZ DOMAGOJ (PRINCE DOMAGOJ). At the top sits the coat of arms of Croatia, above diagonally crossed swords. The reverse is smooth with the Croatian wattle in the centre containing the inscription REPUBLIKA HRVATSKA (REPUBLIC OF CROATIA). Ante Kotromanović
Ante Kotromanović (; born 8 May 1968) is Croatian politician and army officer who served as Defense Minister of Croatia from December 2011 until January 2016. Biography Kotromanović was born in Potravlje near Hrvace. He graduated from Command and Staff Academy "Blago Zadro" and War College "Ban Josip Jelačić". In 1990 he became a member of the special forces of the Croatian police. A year later, in 1991, he became commander of special forces company in headquarters of the Croatian Army. In 1992, he was named commander of a battalion in teaching center in Sinj. From 1993 till 1996 he was commander of the 126th Sinj Brigade and Sinj Operational Zone. The system of honours of the Republic of Croatia was established after the independence of Croatia in 1991. Andrija Andabak (September 6, 1956 – July 7, 1992) was a Croatian soldier who distinguished himself in the Croatian War of Independence. Predrag Fred Matić (born 2 June 1962) is a Croatian centre-left politician of the Social Democratic Party who has been serving as a Member of European Parliament since 2019. He previously served as Minister of Veterans' Affairs from 2011 to 2016, in the Cabinet of Zoran Milanović. Early life Matić was born in 1962 in Požega, Croatia. Peruća Lake
Lake Peruća or Peruča ( hr, Jezero Peruča or ') is the second largest artificial lake in Croatia, after Lake Dubrava. It is located in the Split-Dalmatia County. Location Located in inland Dalmatia, south of the source of the River Cetina, northeast of the State route D1 between the towns of Sinj and Vrlika. The Lake is on the course of the River Cetina, bounded by Svilaja mountain to the southwest and Dinara mountain to the northeast. Building of the dam The Lake is fed by water from the Cetina River, and drains an area of 3,700 km2, while the total catchment area of the Cetina is around 12,000 km2. The annual discharge is around 105 m3 s−1 as a consequence of a mean annual rainfall of 1380 mm. Mark Nicholas Gray
Mark Nicholas Gray MBE is a former colonel in the British Royal Marines, running a floating armoury company in the ocean area subject to piracy based in Somalia and nearby countries. As a UN observer he prevented a disaster at the Peruća hydroelectric dam in 1993 during the Croatian War of Independence. The Serbian military raised the level of the lake and placed 30 tons of explosives within the dam in their preparations for withdrawal; detonating the explosives was intended to destroy the dam, which would have released a huge surge of water which would have killed or made homeless 20,000 people. Gray, on his own initiative and exceeding his authority, opened the spillway gate and reduced the level of water in the lake by several metres; when the explosives were detonated the dam did not fail. Anton Tus (born 22 November 1931) is a retired Croatian general who served as head of the Yugoslav Air Force between 1985 and 1991 and was the first Chief of Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces from 1991 to 1992 during the Croatian War of Independence. Biography A graduate of the Yugoslav Air Force Academy, Tus spent most of his career serving in the Yugoslav Air Force. Franjo Tuđman (; 14 May 1922 – 10 December 1999), also written as Franjo Tudjman, was a Croatian politician and historian. Following the country's independence from Yugoslavia, he became the first president of Croatia and served as president from 1990 until his death in 1999. He was the ninth and last President of the Presidency of SR Croatia from May to July 1990. Tuđman was born in Veliko Trgovišće. Ante Gotovina
Ante Gotovina (born 12 October 1955) is a Croatian retired lieutenant general and former French senior corporal who served in the Croatian War for Independence. He is noted for his primary role in the 1995 Operation Storm.
