Orbital (bus Service)
Orbital is a circular bus route in Leicester, UK. It is operated by Centrebus. History Centrebus have operated the 40 service since around 2003 but the history can be traced back to the early 1980s. As part of the Leicester bus partnership, Centrebus and Leicester City Council successfully applied for ZEBRA funding for electric vehicles to operate on service 40, these were launched on 24 October 2022. Route The route is long and forms a circle around Leicester. Orbital currently provides journeys in clockwise and anticlockwise directions up to every hour Monday to Saturday. When funding has been secured additional electric buses will (eventually) allow frequency increase to every 15 minutes and the introduction of (less frequent) evening and Sunday services. Beaumont Shopping Centre
Beaumont Shopping Centre is in Beaumont Leys, on the edge of Leicester. The shopping centre is owned by British Land and managed by GVA. History The Fletcher Mall portion of the property was sold to Cervidae in April 2021. Facilities There are three free car parks located within the main shopping area. Optare Solo SR
The Optare Solo is a low-floor minibus/midibus with one or two doors manufactured by Optare in the United Kingdom since 1998. The Solo name is a play on its low-floor status, the manufacturer marketing its vehicle as having an entrance that is "so low" from the floor, namely with kneeling suspension. In January 2012 Optare announced the end of production for the original Solo design with a modified Solo SR taking over. Optare Esteem
The Optare Esteem was a low-floor single-decker bus body manufactured by East Lancashire Coachbuilders, Darwen East Lancs and Optare between 2006 and 2009 on Scania N94UB, Scania N230UB, Volvo B7RLE, MAN 12.240, Alexander Dennis Dart SLF, Alexander Dennis Enviro200 Dart and Alexander Dennis Enviro300 chassis. History The Esteem was launched by East Lancashire Coachbuilders in 2006. The first production examples entered service with Preston Bus in September 2006 on Scania N94UB chassis. After East Lancashire Coachbuilders was placed in administration in August 2007, it was bought by Darwen Group and the Esteem was rebranded as the Darwen Esteen. Dennis Dart
The Dennis Dart is a rear-engined single-decker midibus chassis that was introduced by Dennis Specialist Vehicles of Guildford, England in 1989, replacing the Dennis Domino. Initially built as a high-floor design, In 1996 the low-floor second generation Dennis Dart SLF was launched. In 2001, production of the Dart SLF passed to TransBus International, during which time it was sold as the TransBus Dart SLF; Alexander Dennis took over production in 2004, renaming the product as the Alexander Dennis Dart SLF. More than 11,000 Darts were produced in total during a 19-year production run. Most were purchased by United Kingdom operators, although examples were sold in North America, Australia, Hong Kong and Singapore. Yutong E10
The Yutong E10, also sold as the longer Yutong E12, is a battery electric single-decker bus manufactured by Yutong in Zhengzhou since 2016 for both Chinese and international bus operators. The Yutong E10 debuted in China in 2016, transporting delegates to meetings of the National People's Congress in Beijing. Exports The Yutong E12 is popular in Denmark. The city of Roskilde was the first in the country to receive Yutong buses in 2019, replacing its diesel bus fleet with 20 E12s. Rushey Mead is an area, suburb, electoral ward and administrative division of the city of Leicester, England. The population of the ward at the 2011 census was 15,962. Roughly, it consists of the area inside the city boundary which is north of the A47 road, Uppingham Road, east of the A563 road, A563 outer ringroad, and south of the Scraptoft Lane.
