Orbit Group
Orbit Group is a group of housing associations providing affordable housing to around 40,000 households in England, mainly in the Midlands, East Anglia and the south east, operating out of 7 offices with the head office in Coventry. History Orbit Housing Association was established in 1966. In 1998 the company established Orbit Bexley Housing Association to take on the management of the 4,500 transferred from the London Borough of Bexley, under a process known as large scale voluntary transfer (LSVT). Thanet Community Housing Association joined the group in 2004 and brought with it stock in east Kent. In October 2007 Orbit Bexley and Thanet Community were merged to form Orbit South. Orbit is active in promoting shared ownership as well as providing homes for rent. Housing Association
In Ireland and the United Kingdom, housing associations are private, Non-profit organization, non-profit making organisations that provide low-cost "Public housing in the United Kingdom, social housing" for people in need of a home. Any budget surplus is used to maintain existing housing and to help finance new homes and it cannot be used for personal benefit of directors or shareholders. Although independent, they are regulated by the state and commonly receive public funding. They are now the United Kingdom's major providers of new housing for renting, rent, while many also run equity sharing, shared ownership schemes to help those who cannot afford to buy a home outright. Affordable housing is housing which is deemed affordable to those with a household income at or below the median as rated by the national government or a local government by a recognized housing affordability index. Most of the literature on affordable housing refers to mortgages and a number of forms that exist along a continuum – from emergency homeless shelters, to transitional housing, to non-market rental (also known as social or subsidized housing), to formal and informal rental, indigenous housing, and ending with affordable home ownership. Kent is a county in South East England and one of the home counties. Shared Ownership
Equity sharing is another name for shared ownership or '' co-ownership''. It takes one property, more than one owner, and blends them to maximize profit and tax deductions. Typically, the parties find a home and buy it together as co-owners, but sometimes they join to co-own a property one of them already owns. At the end of an agreed term, they buy one another out or sell the property and split the equity. Tessa Ann Vosper Blackstone, Baroness Blackstone, (born 27 September 1942) is an English politician and university administrator. Early life Her father, Geoffrey Vaughan Blackstone, CBE, GM, was the Chief Fire Officer for Hertfordshire and her mother, Joanna Vosper, was an actress and model for the House of Worth in Paris. StepChange Debt Charity, formerly the Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS), is the trading name of the Foundation for Credit Counselling, and is a debt counselling charity in the United Kingdom. The organisation offers free debt advice and money management and can be contacted through its freephone telephone helpline or online through its online debt advice tool. In 2020, around half a million people contacted the charity for help. The charity also campaigns to change policies and practices that trap people in problem debt. Its current Chair is John Griffith-Jones, replacing Sir Hector Sants in January 2019. The Chief Executive of the charity is Phil Andrew, who took over from Mike O'Connor in November 2017.
