Oranmore-Maree GAA
Oranmore-Maree GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in the town of Oranmore and surrounding area of Maree, County Galway, Ireland. The club was founded in 1967 and fields teams in both Gaelic football and hurling. The club was formed through a county by-law which ruled that there should be only one team per parish, previous to this Oranmore and Maree had teams. Maree wore green and black jerseys while Oranmore wore Black and Amber. Maree won the Galway Senior Hurling Championship in 1933 beating Castlegar 5-06 to 6-02. The GAA club has provided many hurlers and footballers to the Galway Senior Hurling Team and football teams these include Pat Malone, who won 2 All-Ireland medals in 1987 and 1988 respectively, Richard Burke, William Burke, Aidan Divney, Michael Hanniffy and current members of the panel Gearoid McInerney, Niall Burke and Brendan Hanniffy. Gaelic Athletic Association
The Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA; ga, Cumann Lúthchleas Gael ; CLG) is an Irish international amateur sporting and cultural organisation, focused primarily on promoting indigenous Gaelic games and pastimes, which include the traditional Irish sports of hurling, camogie, Gaelic football, Gaelic handball and rounders. Niall Burke
Niall Burke (born 21 May 1991) is an Irish hurler who, as of 2012, played as a centre-forward at senior level for the Galway county team. Burke made his first appearance for the team during the 2012 National League and immediately became a regular member of the team. An All-Ireland medalist at minor and under-21 levels, Burke has also won a Leinster medal in the senior grade. At club level Burke plays with the Oranmore-Maree club. Alan Burke
Alan S. Burke (September 15, 1922 – August 25, 1992) was an American conservative television and radio talk show host who was on the air primarily in New York City from 1966 to 1969 on WNEW-TV. Life He was born in Richmond, Virginia, in 1922. He graduated from the University of Richmond. He became a sportscaster at a radio station in Petersburg, Virginia. He married Claire Canniff and they had two sons, David Jonathan Burke and Morris Daniel Burke. His television show was on the local New York City channel 5 at station WNEW from 1966 to 1969 as ''The Alan Burke Show'' and was syndicated nationally. Gearóid McInerney (born 24 September 1990) is an Irish hurler who currently plays as a centre-back for the Galway senior team. Born in Oranmore, County Galway, McInerney was born into a strong hurling family. His father, Gerry McInerney, was a Galway player and won back-to-back All-Ireland medals in 1987 and 1988. McInerney first played competitive hurling during his schooling at the Oranmore boys national school where he won 2 A county titles in hurling and football. He later played more hurling for Calasanctius College. Pat Malone (born 8 March 1965) is a former Irish people, Irish sportsperson. He played hurling with his local club Oranmore-Maree GAA, Oranmore-Maree and with the Galway GAA, Galway senior inter-county team in the 1980s and 1990s. Oranmore ( or ''Úarán Mór'') is a town near the city of Galway in County Galway, Ireland. It is also the name of the civil parish and Roman Catholic parish in which the town lies. All-Ireland Intermediate Club Hurling Championship
The GAA Hurling All-Ireland Intermediate Club Championship, known simply as the All-Ireland Club Championship, is an annual inter-county hurling competition organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). It is the second highest inter-county club hurling competition in Ireland, and has been contested every year since the 2004-05 championship. The final, currently held on the third Saturday in January, is the culmination of a series of games played between October and January with the winners receiving the cup. The All-Ireland Championship has always been played on a straight knockout basis whereby once a team loses they are eliminated from the championship. Galway Senior Hurling Championship
The Galway Senior Hurling Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the Brooks Galway Senior Hurling Championship) is an annual hurling competition organised by the Galway County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association since 1887 for the top hurling teams in the county of Galway in Ireland. The series of games are played during the summer and autumn months with the county final currently being played at Pearse Stadium in November. Initially played as a knock-out competition, the championship currently consists of a group stage followed by a knock-out series of games.
