Orange Recordings
Orange Recordings is a record label that started in Chicago in 1997. In 2000 the label moved to San Diego and then relocated again to Los Angeles in the early 2002. Orange is currently headquartered in Seattle. Cash Audio
Cash Audio was an American rock band based in Chicago, Illinois. Formed in 1996 as a guitar-and-drums duo consisting of John Humphrey and Scott Giampino, they released three full-length albums for Touch and Go Records and a variety of singles and a full-length for Orange Recordings. Cash Audio toured nationally and performed live until 2002. History Cash Audio was originally named Cash Money and was formed in 1996 by John Humphrey and Scott Giampino while playing with The Late Great Danes. Humphrey's previous band was God and Texas (Ohio/ Chicago on Rave and Restless Records), while Giampino played with local Chicago group the Mystery Girls while also doing a stint with the infamous GG Allin and the Toilet Rockers. The Cells
The Cells is a 3-piece American rock band based in Chicago, currently made up of singer/guitarist Cory Hance, bassist Johnny Furman and drummer Mark Doyle. The band was formed in 1998 by singer/guitarist Cory Hance and bassist Brede Hovland. Hovland then dropped out to work in the movie business, and Hance, guitarist/singer Pat McIntyre and drummer Randy Payne continued the band with guest bassists such as Rick Ness, formerly of Fig Dish (a key Cells member during his stint), Skid Marks, of Box-O-Car, Josh James and Bob Rising . They released their debut album, We Can Replace You under Orange Recordings. After touring behind We Can Replace You as a 3-piece, Hance, McIntyre and Payne parted ways. Parker And Lily
Parker and Lily was an American experimental pop/rock duo originally from New York, NY and formed in 2000. Parker and Lily are not currently touring and have not released any new material since 2005; the band members are all working on other projects; Parker and Lily disbanded sometime in 2005. Their style is often described as a combination of experimental, dream pop, indie rock, indie pop, slowcore and lo-fi. The band was originally composed of two former members of the band Valentine Six, Parker Noon (aka Mangham Parker) (vocalist) and Lily Wolfe (pianist). Organist Daniel Rickard and drummer Jeremy Wheatley were later added to the Parker and Lily live lineup. The Mother Hips
The Mother Hips is an American rock band based in the San Francisco Bay Area. History Formation and debut Tim Bluhm (vocals/guitar), Greg Loiacono (guitar/vocals), Isaac Parsons (bass) and Mike Wofchuck (drums) met in 1990 while attending California State University-Chico, living off campus in Bradley Hall. They jammed and played some original songs at a few parties (once billed as Pippi Longstocking and the Trunk-of-Funk), but soon Isaac and Mike were lured away by the prospect of playing Led Zeppelin and Jane's Addiction covers at big parties as the rhythm section of the Keystones. Meanwhile, Tim and Greg played acoustic guitars and sang harmonies to songstress Ali Weiss in the mellow trio Ali and the Cats. The Studdogs
The Studdogs was an American rock band from Orlando, Florida, United States. The band's music contains elements of punk, blues rock, garage rock, and noise rock. The band was formed in 2000 and stayed active until 2005. They released a lot of material, particularly the album, ''The Gospel According to the Studdogs'' and the 7" vinyl three-song EP, and gained local and national notoriety. They were featured in several national music magazines, including Magnet and Amplifier. Comparisons were made to the Stooges, Dead Boys, and it was said they sounded "like absolute victory by way of slurring, Rolling Stones-y garage rock from nowhere in particular." Their drunken, abrasive live shows often ended with someone bleeding or being thrown out of the venue. He also performs and records as a children's artist under the pseudonym Caspar Babypants. Biography Ballew grew up in Seattle and attended middle and high school at Bush School, where he met Dave Dederer, with whom he would later form the Presidents of the United States of America. In the late 1980s and early '90s, Ballew lived in Boston, where he performed as a street musician in a duo called Egg with Phil Franklin (later of Caroliner Rainbow and Sunburned Hand of the Man). Many of Ballew's songs with Egg would become well-known Presidents songs, most notably " Naked and Famous", which is performed by Egg as a bonus track on a 2005 reissue of the Presidents' eponymous debut album.
