Orange Juice
Orange juice is a liquid extract of the orange (fruit), orange tree fruit, produced by squeezing or reaming oranges. It comes in several different varieties, including blood orange, navel oranges, valencia orange, clementine, and tangerine. As well as variations in oranges used, some varieties include differing amounts of juice vesicles, known as "pulp" in American English, and "(juicy) bits" in British English. These vesicles contain the juice of the orange and can be left in or removed during the manufacturing process. How juicy these vesicles are depend upon many factors, such as species, variety, and season. In American English, the beverage name is often abbreviated as "OJ". Commercial orange juice with a long shelf life is made by pasteurizing the juice and removing the oxygen from it. Orange Juice (band)
Orange Juice was a Scottish jangle pop band founded in the Glasgow suburb of Bearsden as the Nu-Sonics in 1976. They became Orange Juice in 1979, and became perhaps the most important band in the Scottish independent music scene that emerged in the post-punk era, inspired by contemporary punk bands including Subway Sect, Television, and Buzzcocks but also 1960s acts, most notably The Byrds and The Velvet Underground. Musically, the band brought together styles and genres that often appeared incongruous, for example, country, disco and punk. The band released their first singles during 1980 and 1981 on the independent Postcard Records label founded by Alan Horne, along with fellow Scottish bands Josef K and Aztec Camera. ''The Orange Juice'' is the third and final studio album by Scottish post-punk band Orange Juice. It was released in 1984.The title was a tribute to The Velvet Underground's eponymous third album. The album was released with free 12" single versions of several tracks on the cassette version, and it sold mostly in this format. The album was re-released on CD in 1998 and again in 2014. Edwyn Collins used to dedicate the song "I Guess I'm Just a Little Too Sensitive" to Morrissey on the tour promoting this album. Oran "Juice" Jones (born March 28, 1957) is an American retired R&B singer. Biography Early life Jones was born in Houston, Texas, and raised in Harlem, New York City, New York. He graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1981, serving as a sniper officer in the Marine Corps before becoming a musician. Music career Jones was the first musician signed to OBR Records, a subsidiary of Def Jam (which is now part of Universal Music Group). His song " The Rain" became a hit in 1986, peaking at #9 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100. It ranks him on VH1's top 100 One Hit Wonders of the '80s. ''K-12'' (pronounced "K through twelve") is the second studio album by American singer Melanie Martinez. It was released with an accompanying film of the same name on September 6, 2019, through Atlantic Records. Martinez played the main character "Cry Baby" in this film that she wrote and directed.
