Oradell Reservoir
The Oradell Reservoir is a reservoir formed by the Oradell Reservoir Dam on the Hackensack River in Bergen County, New Jersey, United States. Geography The Oradell Reservoir Dam is located primarily in the borough of Oradell, but the reservoir also extends across the borders of the nearby boroughs of Haworth, Emerson, Closter, and Harrington Park. The reservoir is fed by the Upper Hackensack River, the Pascack Brook and Dwars Kill. The reservoir feeds the Lower Hackensack River via the Oradell Dam. Upstream from the Oradell Reservoir are three other reservoirs: Woodcliff Lake Reservoir, also in Bergen County; Lake DeForest in Rockland County in New York; and Lake Tappan, traversing the borders of Bergen and Rockland counties across the state line. Hackensack River
The Hackensack River is a river, approximately 45 miles (72 km) long, in the U.S. states of New York and New Jersey, emptying into Newark Bay, a back chamber of New York Harbor. The watershed of the river includes part of the suburban area outside New York City just west of the lower Hudson River, which it roughly parallels, separated from it by the New Jersey Palisades. It also flows through and drains the New Jersey Meadowlands. The lower river, which is navigable as far as the city of Hackensack, is heavily industrialized and forms a commercial extension of Newark Bay. Boroughitis (also borough fever or borough mania) was the creation in the 1890s, usually by referendum, of large numbers of small boroughs in the U.S. state of New Jersey, particularly in Bergen County. Attempts by the New Jersey Legislature to reform local government and school systems led to the breakup of most of Bergen County's townships into small boroughs, which still balkanize the state's political map. This occurred following the development of commuter suburbs in New Jersey, residents of which wanted more government services, whereas the long-time rural population feared the increases in taxation that would result. Palisades Township was a township that existed in Bergen County, New Jersey, United States. The township was in existence from 1871 to 1922. Rochelle Park is a township in Bergen County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2020 United States census, the township's population was 5,814, reflecting an increase of 284 (+5.1%) from the 5,530 counted in the 2010 Census, which had in turn increased by 2 (0%) from the 5,528 counted in the 2000 Census. What is now Rochelle Park was originally incorporated as Midland Township on March 7, 1871, from portions of New Barbadoes Township. Portions of the township were taken to form the boroughs of Delford (on March 8, 1894; now Oradell), Maywood (June 30, 1894), Riverside (also June 30, 1894; now River Edge) and Paramus (March 2, 1922). Harrington Township, New Jersey
Harrington Township was a township that existed in Bergen County, New Jersey, United States, from 1775 until 1916. It was named after the Haring family, who were early settlers to the region. The spelling was originally "Harington Township", based on the family name "Haring", but was changed to "Harrington" in the latter part of the 19th century.
