Opus (progressive Rock Band)
Opus ( sr-cyr, Опус) was a Yugoslav progressive rock band formed in Belgrade in 1973. Opus was a prominent act of the 1970s Yugoslav rock scene. Formed and led by former YU Grupa keyboardist Miodrag "Mive" Okrugić, the band went through several lineup changes, its various lineups featuring notable musicians like guitarist Miodrag "Bata" Kostić, vocalist Dušan Prelević and guitarist Vidoja "Džindžer" Božinović. The band released only one studio album, ending their activity in 1979. Vidoja Božinović
Vidoja Božinović (Serbian Cyrillic: Видоја Божиновић, born 3 October 1955), also known as Džindžer (transliteration for ''Ginger''), is a Serbian musician. He is best known as the guitarist for the Serbian and former Yugoslav rock band Riblja Čorba. Biography Vidoja Božinović started his career in 1974 as the guitarist for the band Dim Bez Vatre. After the group disbanded Božinović joined band Mirjan. In 1976 he joined progressive rock band Pop Mašina, whose member was already his brother Zoran Božinović. After Pop Mašina disbanded in 1978 Vidoja Božinović joined Dah. In 1979 he became a member of the last Opus lineup. In 1980 former Pop Mašina members Robert Nemeček and Božinović brothers formed hard rock band Rok Mašina. Rok Mašina ( sr-cyr, Рок Машина; trans. ''Rock Machine'') was a short-lasting Yugoslav hard rock and heavy metal band formed in Belgrade in 1980. Formed by former members of the progressive/hard rock band Pop Mašina Robert Nemeček (vocals and bass guitar) and brothers Zoran and Vidoja Božinović (guitars), Rok Mašina released only one studio album, ''Rok Mašina'', before disbanding in 1982, while in the midst of recording of their second album. Part of the material recorded for their second album appeared in 1983 on the influential mini-album ''Izrod na granici''. Zlatko Manojlović (Serbian Cyrillic: Златко Манојловић; born 1951) is a Serbian guitarist and singer. He is known as the leader of the progressive rock band Dah and the heavy metal band Gordi, as well as for his eclectic solo work. Career Early career (early 1960s – 1972) Manojlović started his musical career when he was very young. He was only fifteen when his composition won the first place in Radio Belgrade show ''Studio VI vam pruža šansu'' (''Studio VI Gives You a Chance''). Edvard Grieg
Edvard Hagerup Grieg ( , ; 15 June 18434 September 1907) was a Norwegian composer and pianist. Yugoslav Rock Scene
Popular music in Yugoslavia includes the pop and rock music of the former SFR Yugoslavia, including all their genres and subgenres. The scene included the constituent republics: SR Slovenia, SR Croatia, SR Bosnia and Herzegovina, SR Montenegro, SR Macedonia and SR Serbia and its subunits: SAP Vojvodina and SAP Kosovo. Progressive Rock
Progressive rock (shortened as prog rock or simply prog; sometimes conflated with art rock) is a broad genre of rock music that developed in the United Kingdom and United States through the mid- to late 1960s, peaking in the early 1970s. Initially termed "progressive pop", the style was an outgrowth of psychedelic bands who abandoned standard pop traditions in favour of instrumentation and compositional techniques more frequently associated with jazz, folk, or classical music.
