Operation Dawn (1967)
Operation Dawn, code-name Fajr (الفجر) in Arabic,Shlaim, Avi. "Israel: Poor Little Samsom" in ''The 1967 Arab-Israeli War: Origins and Consequences''p. 30(Cambridge University Press, 2012, edited by Shlaim and Louis). was a rejected Egyptian military proposal planned by General Abdel Hakim Amer, as tension built between Israel and Egypt ahead of what was to become the Six Day War. It was not approved by Egyptian President Gamal Abdel Nasser, who was committed to not attacking Israel, unless Israel attacked first. Amer’s proposal was to strike the Israeli Air Force, in the prelude to what would become the Six-Day War. The Egyptian attack plan was to also involve strategic bombing of major ports, the Negev Nuclear Research Center near Dimona, airfields and cities. Arab armies would then attack, effectively cutting Israel in half with an armoured thrust from northern Sinai via the Negev desert. Operation Dawn-1 (also known as Operation Valfajr-1) was an Iranian offensive in the Iran–Iraq War. Operation Dawn 2 or Operation Valfajr-2 ( fa, عملیات والفجر 2) was an Iranian operation during the eight-year-long Iran–Iraq War. This operation opened a new front in northern Iraq/Iraqi Kurdistan also known as "the Northern Front". Despite Turkish help, this region was Iraq's weak point during the war as the Kurds sided with Iran. Prelude In the year leading up to the operation, fighting between Iraqi and Iranian forces drew to a stalemate on the southern front. Operation Dawn ( tr, Şafak Harekâtı) was a cross-border operation by the Turkish Armed Forces (in conjunction with the forces of the Kurdistan Democratic Party) into northern Iraq between 25 September and 15 October 1997 against the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), following Operation Hammer earlier the same year. Operation Dawn ( tr, Şafak Operasyonu) also referred as Operation Silent Epic ( tr, Sessiz Destan Operasyonu) was an operation launched by the Turkish Armed Forces against the PKK, who had taken control of Şemdinli. Operation details The operation was launched by the Turkish Army and backed by the Turkish Air Force and it lasted for 11 days. Remaining PKK officers have been summoned to the Qandil Mountains. Tripoli International Airport
Tripoli International Airport () is a closed international airport built to serve Tripoli, the capital city of Libya. The airport is located in the area of Qasr bin Ghashir, from central Tripoli. It used to be the hub for Libyan Airlines, Afriqiyah Airways, and Buraq Air. The airport has been closed intermittently since 2011 and as of early 2018, flights to and from Tripoli have been using Mitiga International Airport instead. During the 2014 Libyan Civil War, the airport was heavily damaged in the Battle of Tripoli Airport. The airport reopened for limited commercial use in July 2017. In April 2019, however, it was reported that Mitiga had become the last functioning airport in Tripoli during the 2019–20 Western Libya campaign.
