"Opening Night" is the seventeenth episode of the fifth season of the American musical television series ''Glee'', and the 105th episode overall. It was written by Michael Hitchcock and directed by Eric Stoltz, and it aired on Fox in the United States on April 22, 2014, and features Rachel Berry (Lea Michele) opening as Fanny Brice in '' Funny Girl'' on Broadway. Cory Monteith
Cory Allan Michael Monteith (; May 11, 1982 July 13, 2013) was a Canadian actor and musician who played Finn Hudson on the Fox television series ''Glee''. As an actor based in British Columbia, Monteith had minor roles on television series before being cast on ''Glee''. During his success on the show, he also acted in films. His film work included ''Monte Carlo'' and a starring role in ''Sisters & Brothers'' (both 2011). Monteith had a troubled adolescence involving substance abuse from age 13, and left school at age 16. The fifth season of the Fox musical comedy-drama television series ''Glee'' was commissioned on April 19, 2013, along with a sixth season. It premiered on September 26, 2013, as part of the 2013 fall season. After a winter break, it returned on February 25, 2014, moving to Tuesday nights to finish its season.
