The OpenReader Consortium is a nonprofit organization developing open digital publication standards. The project is in "cold storage" now, having been unable to successfully amass enough users for the formats it developed; they will continue their battle for open standards within the International Digital Publishing Forum (IDPF). Digital rights management (DRM) is the management of legal access to digital content. Various tools or technological protection measures (TPM) such as access control technologies can restrict the use of proprietary hardware and copyrighted works. ZIP is an archive file format that supports lossless data compression. A ZIP file may contain one or more files or directories that may have been compressed. The ZIP file format permits a number of compression algorithms, though DEFLATE is the most common. DTBook
DTBook (an acronym for ''DAISY Digital Talking Book'') or DAISY XML is a XML-based document file format. It is used in EPUB 2.0 e-books and DAISY Digital Talking Book, as well as other places.
