One species – ''Oonops pulcher, O. pulcher'' – is not only found in Europe and North Africa, but also on Tasmania, although no species occurs on the Australian mainland. ''Oonops triangulipes, O. triangulipes'' is distributed in Micronesia. ''Oonops caecus, O. caecus'' is restricted to Lesotho, and ''Oonops leai, O. leai'' is endemic (ecology), endemic to Lord Howe Island.
