Ontario Highway 67
King's Highway 67, commonly referred to as Highway 67, is a provincially maintained highway in the northern portion of the Canadian province of Ontario that connects Highway 11 at Porquis Junction with the town of Iroquois Falls. The two-laned highway is long and passes through farmland and swamps en route to the town. Highway 67 was assumed by the Department of Highways in 1937, shortly after the Department of Northern Development merged with it that year. The route originally extended south of Highway 11 to Highway 101 west of Timmins, but this portion was decommissioned as a provincial highway in 1998. The Ministry of Transportation (MTO) is the provincial ministry of the Government of Ontario that is responsible for transport infrastructure and related law in Ontario. The ministry traces its roots back over a century to the 1890s, when the province began training Provincial Road Building Instructors. In 1916, the Department of Public Highways of Ontario (DPHO) was formed and tasked with establishing a network of provincial highways. The first was designated in 1918, and by the summer of 1925, sixteen highways were numbered. Cochrane District is a district and Census divisions of Canada, census division in Northeastern Ontario in the Provinces and territories of Canada, Canadian province of Ontario. The Provincial Highway Network consists of all the roads in Ontario maintained by the Ministry of Transportation of Ontario (MTO), including those designated as part of the King's Highway, secondary highways, and tertiary roads. Components of the system—comprising of roads and 2,880 bridges —range in scale from Highway 401, the busiest highway in North America, to unpaved forestry and mining access roads. The longest highway is nearly long, while the shortest is less than a kilometre. Connecting Link
The Connecting Link program is a provincial subsidy provided to municipalities to assist with road construction, maintenance and repairs in the Canadian province of Ontario. Roads which are designated as ''connecting links'' form the portions of provincial highways through built-up communities which are not owned by the Ministry of Transportation (MTO). Connecting links are governed by several regulations, including section 144, subsection 31.1 of the Highway Traffic Act and section 21 of the Public Transportation and Highway Improvement Act. While the road is under local control and can be modified to their needs, extensions and traffic signals require the approval of the MTO to be constructed. Robert Keith Rae (born August 2, 1948) is a Canadian diplomat and former politician who is the current Canadian Ambassador to the United Nations since 2020. Michael Deane Harris (born January 23, 1945) is a Canadian retired politician who served as the 22nd premier of Ontario from 1995 to 2002 and leader of the Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario (PC Party) from 1990 to 2002. Ontario Highway 610
Secondary Highway 610, commonly referred to as Highway 610, was a provincially maintained secondary highway in the Canadian province of Ontario that connected Highway 101 at Hoyle, east of Timmins, with former Highway 67 (now Municipal Road) near Barbers Bay, passing through the village of Connaught en route. Highway 610 was assumed by the Department of Highways, predecessor to the modern Ministry of Transportation of Ontario, in 1956, along with many of the secondary highways in Ontario.
