Ontario Highway 516
Secondary Highway 516, commonly referred to as Highway 516, is a provincially maintained secondary highway in the Canadian province of Ontario. The highway is in length, connecting Highway 72 and Highway 642 near Sioux Lookout with Highway 599 north of Savant Lake. Highway 516 was first assumed by the Department of Highway (DHO), predecessor to the modern Ministry of Transportation of Ontario, in 1956. However, the original route was in Muskoka, between the village of Windermere and Highway 11 east of Utterson. This route was mostly transferred to the newly-formed District Municipality of Muskoka in 1972, although a portion near Utterson now forms part of Highway 141. Ministry Of Transportation Of Ontario
The Ministry of Transportation (MTO) is the provincial ministry of the Government of Ontario that is responsible for transport infrastructure and related law in Ontario. The ministry traces its roots back over a century to the 1890s, when the province began training Provincial Road Building Instructors. It travels from its head at Kashaweogama Lake in Thunder Bay District through a series of lakes to Marchington Lake, where it meets the Sturgeon River and North River. It then continues over the small McDougall Falls and through Botsford Lake before emptying into the English River at Abram Lake near Sioux Lookout. Unorganized Kenora District is an unorganized area in northwestern Ontario, Canada, in Kenora District. Constituting 98.39 percent of the district's land area, yet only 10.93 percent of its population, it is essentially the remainder of the district's territory after all incorporated cities, municipalities, townships, Indian reserves, and Indian settlements have been excluded. Ontario Highway 532
Secondary Highway 532, commonly referred to as Highway 532, is a provincially maintained secondary highway in the Canadian province of Ontario. The route connects several mining and milling towns in Unorganized Algoma District, notably Searchmont. The route is remote, ending at a mine access road north of Highway 556, its southern terminus. A former designation of Highway 532 travelled through Muskoka along the Parry Sound Colonization Road and was redesignated as Highway 141 in 1974. At that time, the present route was established following what was until then a segment of Highway 556. It has remained unchanged since then. When two roadways share the same right-of-way, it is sometimes called a common section or commons.
