Ong Soh Khim
Associate Professor Ong Soh Khim () was a Nominated Member of Parliament (NMP) in Singapore from January 2005 to April 2006. She was appointed by Singapore’s President S R Nathan in December 2004. Background Born and raised in a working-class family in Singapore, Ong studied at Beatty Primary School, Ang Mo Kio Primary School and Ang Mo Kio Secondary School, and did her A levels at National Junior College from 1987 to 1988. After enrolling at the National University of Singapore (NUS), Ong received her B.Eng. (Honours in Mechanical Engineering) in 1992. She was awarded her Ph.D. from NUS. She is currently an associate professor at the NUS Department of Mechanical Engineering. She was a member of the NUS Senate Delegacy until June 2013. Her field of study is manufacturing processes and technologies in the department's Manufacturing Division. National Junior College (NJC) is a government Junior college (Singapore), junior college located in Bukit Timah, Singapore. Established in 1969, it was the first government junior college in Singapore. NJC offers a two-year course for pre-university students and a six-year Integrated Programme, both leading to the Singapore-Cambridge GCE Advanced Level examinations. The General Certificate of Education (GCE) Advanced Level, or A Level, is a main school leaving qualification in England, Wales, Northern Ireland, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man. It is available as an alternative qualification in other countries. Students generally study for A levels over a two-year period. Ang Mo Kio Secondary School
Ang Mo Kio Secondary School (AMKSS) is a co-educational government secondary school in Ang Mo Kio, Singapore, offering education for Secondary 1 to Secondary 5. Students at AMKSS are known as AMKsians. History The school was the first school to be built in Ang Mo Kio. It officially started functioning on 2 January 1979 in the premises of Hwi Yoh Secondary School with 12 Secondary One classes. On 12 July that year, the school occupied its premises at Ang Mo Kio Street 22 and was officially declared open on 20 September 1980 by Yeo Toon Chia, the Member of Parliament for Ang Mo Kio Constituency. Ang Mo Kio is a planning area and residential town situated in the North-East of Singapore. Located approximately north of the Downtown Core district, Ang Mo Kio is the 3rd most populated planning area in the North-East Region and ranks 8th in terms of population in the country overall.
