One Sided Story
''One Sided Story'' is the second album by Canadian power pop band The Pursuit of Happiness, released in 1990. It was recorded over a two-and-a-half week span in November 1989. After having been on the road nearly non-stop following Love Junk's success, band leader Moe Berg wrote all of the material for ''One Sided Story'' in just four months, completing the last songs just hours before the band started recording for the album. Just after finishing recording the album, original bass player Johnny Sinclair and backup singer Leslie Stanwyck left the band in order to pursue their own project (which would eventually become Universal Honey). After approximately three weeks of auditions, Sinclair and Stanwyck were replaced by Brad Barker on bass and Susan Murumets on backing vocals. Muruments stuck around only for the tour to support the album, leaving to concentrate on her own musical career, whereas Barker has remained with the band ever since. The Pursuit Of Happiness (band)
The Pursuit of Happiness (TPOH) is a Canadian power pop group perhaps best known for their song "I'm an Adult Now". Beginnings Led by Edmonton, Alberta, singer and songwriter Moe Berg, The Pursuit of Happiness were launched in 1985 when he and drummer Dave Gilby moved to Toronto, Ontario. They soon met bassist Johnny Sinclair and formed the band, adding sisters Tamara and Natasha Amabile as backing vocalists. Their debut single, "I'm an Adult Now", quickly became a smash hit across Canada in 1986, sparked by a low-budget video (made by Berg's director friend Nelu Ghiran) which made it onto the Canadian music video channel MuchMusic. The band signed with manager Jeff Rogers (Swell) in 1986. The band did not immediately sign to a record label, but instead released another independent single, "Killed by Love", in 1988. Canadian Content
Canadian content (abbreviated CanCon, cancon or can-con; ) refers to the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) requirements, derived from the Broadcasting Act of Canada, that radio and television broadcasters (including cable and satellite specialty channels) must produce and/or broadcast a certain percentage of content that was at least partly written, produced, presented, or otherwise contributed to by persons from Canada. CanCon also refers to that content itself, and, more generally, to cultural and creative content that is Canadian in nature. Gary Windo
Gary Windo (7 November 1941, in Brighton, England – 25 July 1992, in New York City) was an English jazz tenor saxophonist. Career Windo came from a musical family in England. By age six he took up drums and accordion, then guitar at twelve and saxophone at seventeen. He lived in the United States during the 1960s but returned to England in 1969. In the early 1970s, his career grew as he founded the Gary Windo Quartet and worked with Carla Bley, Brotherhood of Breath, Centipede, Matching Mole, The Running Man, and Nick Mason. Sonny Stitt heard Windo play at the Berlin Jazz Festival and asked him to join the band, which he declined. He worked outside jazz, with the Psychedelic Furs, Robert Wyatt, NRBQ, and for the comedy television show ''Saturday Night Live''. He taught music lessons with his friend Eric Peralli. Murray Kevin "Moe" Berg (born March 22, 1959) is a Canadian singer, guitarist, songwriter, and record producer best known as the frontman of The Pursuit of Happiness (band), The Pursuit of Happiness. Biography Before forming The Pursuit of Happiness (band), The Pursuit of Happiness, Berg was in the Edmonton bands Troc '59, The News, Modern Minds and Facecrime. After working with The Pursuit of Happiness for ten years, Berg released his first solo album, ''Summer's Over'', in 1997. He has also produced a number of records for other artists. He currently plays rhythm in the 1980s cover band "Monteforte". ''Trouser Press'' was a rock and roll magazine started in New York in 1974 as a mimeographed fanzine by editor/publisher Ira Robbins, fellow fan of the Who Dave Schulps and Karen Rose under the name "Trans-Oceanic Trouser Press" (a reference to a song by the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band and an acronymic play on the British TV show ''Top of the Pops)''.
