One Nevada Transmission Line
One Nevada (ON Line) is a , 500-kilovolt, 600-megawatt power line that runs from Southern to Northern Nevada. NV Energy owns 25% of the transmission line and operates and offers the line's capacity under the terms of NV Energy's Open Access Transmission Tariff. Great Basin Transmission South (a subsidiary of LS Power) owns 75% of the line. The line runs from the new Robinson Summit Substation in Ely to Apex, connecting with the existing NV Energy Harry Allen Generating Station, and uses tubular guyed-V towers on a single point foundation. Electric power transmission is the bulk movement of electrical energy from a generating site, such as a power plant, to an electrical substation. Southern Nevada (SNV) is a region and the southern portion of the U.S. state of Nevada which includes the Las Vegas Valley. It also includes the areas in and around Pahrump and Pioche. Tonopah and Hawthorne are sometimes also referred to as part of Southern Nevada, but all organizations based in the Las Vegas area, such as the Southern Nevada Health District, effectively limit the term to the Las Vegas Valley.
