One Day Like This (album)
''One Day like This'' is the fifth studio album by Welsh classical recording artist Rhydian Roberts. It was released through Futura Classics on 14 April 2014 and reached the top of the UK Classical Charts on 20 April 2014. Background and recording On 29 August 2013, it was revealed that Rhydian had decided to fund his fifth studio album through PledgeMusic. Explaining his decision, he said: "The music I make is about passion, and your passion for my music has allowed me to reach out further than I ever thought possible – so now I'd like you to be involved in a much more exciting way of making that music. A way that keeps all of the ideas, the passion, emotion and energy intact. So with a team we have put together and the help of revolutionary Pledge, we are creating a small but perfectly formed record label to make my next album. Rhydian Roberts
Rhydian James Roberts (born 14 February 1983), also known mononymously as Rhydian, is a Welsh baritone singer, television presenter and musical theatre actor. He made his name by finishing second in series 4 of ''The X Factor'', and has since become more widely known. Early years Born in Sennybridge, Rhydian attended the Pontsenni Cylch Meithrin in Brecon and then Ysgol y Bannau Welsh medium school. He played rugby union for the Gwernyfed rugby football club as a junior and later for his school, as well as cricket for Powys County Junior teams. Following a gap year teaching in a small school in South Africa, Rhydian won a bursary to the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire at the University of Central England. "The Blower's Daughter" is the debut single by Irish musician Damien Rice, released on 21 September 2001 through 14th Floor Records. It was released as the lead single for Rice's debut studio album '' O''. It was written and produced by Rice and features vocals by Lisa Hannigan. The song has also been covered by other artists, including American singer Matt McAndrew, who performed the song at the talent show ''The Voice'', as well as Brazilian musicians Ana Carolina and Seu Jorge, who made a Portuguese language version of the song titled "É Isso Aí". Background and composition The meaning of the song has been greatly speculated due to Rice not giving many interviews to promote the album explaining the lyrics. "Danny Boy" is a ballad, written by English songwriter Frederic Weatherly in 1913, and set to the traditional Irish melody of "Londonderry Air". History In 1910, in Bath, Somerset, the English lawyer and lyricist Frederic Weatherly initially wrote the words to "Danny Boy" to a tune other than "Londonderry Air". An alternative story is that Margaret Weatherly sent him a copy of "Londonderry Air" in 1913, Weatherly modified the lyrics of "Danny Boy" to fit its rhyme and meter. Another alternative version of the story has Jess singing the air to Weatherly in 1912 with different lyrics.
