OneAsia
The OneAsia Tour was a men's professional golf tour based in the Asia-Pacific region. The tour was founded in 2009 as a joint venture between the PGA Tour of Australasia, the China Golf Association, the Korean Golf Association and the Korean PGA. The Japan Golf Tour was invited to participate in the project in 2012 and has co-sanctioned the Indonesia Open, Indonesia PGA Championship and Thailand Open. OneAsia was seen as a rival to the longer established Asian Tour, with which it had poor relations. From 2010 to 2017, the OneAsia Tour had world ranking status in its own right. Having had a ten tournament schedule in each of its first few seasons, OneAsia's fortunes began to decline. Being reliant on co-sanctioning arrangements to fill out the calendar – only one event was not co-sanctioned in 2013 and 2014 – tour members were afforded a limited number of places in the tournaments. Liang Wenchong
Liang Wenchong (, born 2 August 1978) is a Chinese professional golfer. He was the highest ranked golfer from the People's Republic of China and the first Chinese golfer to have reached the top 100 of the Official World Golf Ranking. He succeeded his mentor Zhang Lianwei as the top Chinese player. Professional career Liang has played on the Asian Tour, Japan Golf Tour and OneAsia Tour. He finished 21st on the 2006 Japan Golf Tour money list, after finishing second at the Fujisankei Classic. In 2008 he was second at the Japan PGA Championship. The PGA Tour of Australasia, currently known for sponsorship reasons as the ISPS Handa PGA Tour of Australasia, is a professional golf tour for men, owned and operated by the PGA of Australia. Official events on the tour count for World Golf Ranking points. The tour is recognised as being founded in 1973 when the PGA of Australia instituted an Order of Merit. Despite always including at least one tournament in New Zealand, the tour was known as the PGA Tour of Australia until it adopted its current name in 1991 following the inclusion of three events in Asia. Miguel Tabuena
Miguel Luis Lopez Tabuena (born 13 October 1994) is a Filipino professional golfer. He plays on the Asian Tour where he has won twice. Amateur career As an amateur golfer, Tabuena won the events in Malaysia and Singapore and won the silver medal at the 2010 Asian Games in the men's individual event. He turned professional in 2011. Professional career Tabuena has played on the Asian Tour since 2011. He picked up his first win at the 2015 Philippine Open. In 2016 he was joint runner-up in the Maybank Championship Malaysia, an event co-sanctioned with the European Tour. His second Asian Tour win came at the 2018 Queen's Cup hosted by Jaidee Foundation. The Indonesia Open is the national open golf championship of Indonesia, and traditionally held in the capital, Jakarta. History The Indonesia Open was founded in 1974 as an event on the Asia Golf Circuit. It remained on the circuit until the end of the 1996 season, after which it joined the rival Asian PGA's Omega Tour for the 1997 season. Having not been held between 1998 and 2004, the Indonesian Open returned in 2005 as a co-sanctioned event on both the Asian Tour and the European Tour. It remained a fixture on the tours through the 2009 season after which it joined the rival OneAsia tour. The Pine Valley Beijing Open was a men's professional golf tournament, played in 2007 and 2008. It was held at Pine Valley Golf Club in Beijing, China. Solaire Philippine Open
The Philippine Open was one of the world's longest-running men's golf tournaments. First held in 1913, it is also Asia's oldest golf tournament. Prom Meesawat
Prom Meesawat (born 21 July 1984) is a Thai professional golfer. He won his age group at the World Junior Golf Championships in 1997 and 2002 and was Asia Pacific Junior Champion several times. He won the Thailand Open Amateur Championship in 2001, 2002 and 2003 and was victorious in a professional tournament as a fifteen-year-old amateur. He turned professional in 2004 and joined the Asian Tour. In 2005 he had five top ten finishes on Asian Tour and won a professional event in Thai circuit. Professional golf tours are the means by which otherwise unconnected professional golf tournaments are organised into a regular schedule. There are separate tours for men and women; most are based in a specific geographical region, although some tours may hold tournaments in other parts of the world. Asian Tour
The Asian Tour is the principal men's professional golf tour in Asia except for Japan, which has its own Japan Golf Tour, which is also a full member of the International Federation of PGA Tours. Official money events on the tour count for World Golf Ranking points. The Asian Tour is administered from Singapore. Official World Golf Ranking
The Official World Golf Ranking is a system for rating the performance level of professional golfers. It was started in 1986. The rankings are based on a player's position in individual tournaments (i.e. not pairs or team events) over a "rolling" two-year period. New rankings are calculated each week. During 2018, nearly 400 tournaments on 20 tours were covered by the ranking system. All players competing in these tournaments are included in the rankings. In 2022, 23 tours factored into the world rankings. As well as being of general interest, the rankings have an additional importance, in that they are used as one of the qualifying criteria for entry into a number of leading tournaments.
