On The Threshold Of Space
''On the Threshold of Space'' (aka ''Threshold of Space'') is a 1956 Drama (genre), drama directed by Robert D. Webb, starring Guy Madison, Virginia Leith and John Hodiak. It was Hodiak's final film; he died six months before it was released. ''On the Threshold of Space'' provides a historical depiction of air force tests made in the United States for the imminent space race. Plot Capt. Jim Hollenbeck (Guy Madison), a dedicated physician assigned to the space branch of the United States Air Force Medical Corps, voluntarily undergoes jump school training. He wants to better analyze the effect of parachute jumps on the human body. After jump school, Lt. Col. Masters (Walter Coy), the head of the space program, sends Jim to Air Force Base in Florida to evaluate a problematic experimental ejection seat. King Calder
Albert King Calder (April 21, 1898 – June 28, 1964) was an American film, television and theatre actor. Early life Calder was born in Baltimore, Maryland. He began his acting career in 1929 in the Broadway play ''The Humbug'', playing Dr. Norman Ware. He also appeared in other theatre productions, including over 500 performances of the 1940 play '' My Sister Eileen''. Calder then moved to a stage company in Chicago, Illinois stage company. The Boeing B-47 Stratojet (Boeing company designation Model 450) is a retired American long-range, six-engined, turbojet-powered strategic bomber designed to fly at high subsonic speed and at high altitude to avoid enemy interceptor aircraft.
