On The Rock (Israel Vibration Album)
''On the Rock'' is an album by the Jamaican vocal trio Israel Vibration, released in 1995. It was nominated for a National Association of Independent Record Distributors Award. The trio promoted the album with a North American tour. Its singles were "Sugar Me" and "Rudeboy Shufflin". A dub version of the album, ''Dub the Rock'', was released. Production The album was produced by the trio and Doctor Dread. The three members each wrote four songs. The Roots Radics Band backed Israel Vibration. The title track is about the increase in the number of younger people sent to prison. "Love Is All You Need" interprets the Beatles song. Polio survivors, the trio display their mobility aids on the album cover. Israel Vibration
Israel Vibration are a reggae harmony group, originating from Kingston, Jamaica. Lascelle "Wiss" Bulgin, Albert "Apple Gabriel" Craig, and Cecil "Skelly" Spence all suffered from childhood polio, and went on to be a Jamaican roots reggae group in the 1970s. The trio initially met as children at a rehabilitation center. History Bulgin (born 1955), Craig (1955–2020), and Spence (born 1952–2022) first met as children at the Mona Rehabilitation Clinic, all sufferers of polio in the epidemic that spread through Jamaica in the 1950s. RAS Records
RAS Records, also known as Real Authentic Sound, is a reggae record label. History RAS Records was founded in 1979 by Doctor Dread. In his travels to Jamaica he created a network within the reggae artist community there. By the early to mid-1980s, RAS had signed artists such as Black Uhuru, Inner Circle, Culture, Junior Reid, Yellowman, and Freddie McGregor. This allowed RAS to grow significantly throughout the world. To date, the label has also signed artists including Luciano, The Wailers Band, Sizzla and Tony Rebel. The American Association of Independent Music (A2IM) is a trade association that represents independent record labels in the United States, founded in 2005. A2IM is headquartered in New York City, with chapters located in Nashville, Chicago, Northern California, Southern California, and the Pacific Northwest. Roots Radics
The Roots Radics Band was formed in 1978 by bass player Errol "Flabba" Holt, guitarist Eric "Bingy Bunny" Lamont and drummer Lincoln "Style" Scott. They were joined by many musicians, including guitarist Noel "Sowell" Bailey, Dwight Pinkney and Steve Golding, keyboard player Wycliffe "Steelie" Johnson, Pianist Gladstone "Gladdy" Anderson and saxophonist Headley Bennett. As a combined force the Roots Radics became a well-respected studio and stage band, which dominated the sound in the first half of the 1980s. In addition to their own catalogue, they have worked with artists such as Bunny Wailer, Gregory Isaacs, Michael Prophet, Eek-A-Mouse, and Israel Vibration. "All You Need Is Love" is a song by the English rock band the Beatles that was released as a non-album single in July 1967. It was written by John Lennon and credited to the Lennon–McCartney partnership.
