''On the Leyline'' is the eighth studio album by Ocean Colour Scene. It was released on 30 April 2007 and entered the UK album charts on 6 May 2007, peaking at No.37, lasting only a single week in the top 75. Releases The album contains a Paul Weller song entitled "For Dancers Only" (later released by Weller and Graham Coxon under the name "This Old Town"). The fourth track ("Man in the Middle"), was written by the band's bass guitarist, Dan Sealey. The first single, " I Told You So", was released two weeks before the album release on 16 April and reached number 34 in the UK singles charts. The second single released from the album was "I Just Got Over You" which entered and peaked at number 112 following little attention from the music press. Ocean Colour Scene
Ocean Colour Scene (often abbreviated to OCS) are an English Rock music, rock band formed in Solihull in 1989. They have had five top 10 albums including a number one in 1997. They have also achieved seventeen top 40 singles and six top 10 singles to date. History Early days (1990–1995) Ocean Colour Scene were formed after two other bands called The Boys and Fanatics disbanded. Fanatics released an Extended play, EP titled ''Suburban Love Songs''. OCS signed to Phfftt Records in 1990. Their first single, "Sway", was released in September 1990 during the indie (music), indie era. Graham Coxon
Graham Leslie Coxon (born 12 March 1969) is an English musician, singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and painter who came to prominence as a founding member of the rock band Blur. As the group's lead guitarist and secondary vocalist, Coxon is featured on all eight of Blur's studio albums (although 2003's ''Think Tank'' only features his playing on one track, due to his temporary departure from the band during recording sessions for the album). He has also led a solo career since 1998, which all of his solo albums were produced and all the instruments played by himself. As well as being a musician, Coxon is a visual artist: he designed the cover art for all his solo albums as well as Blur's '' 13'' (1999). John Rivers
Sir John Rivers (died 27 February 1584) was a Tudor-era businessman who became Lord Mayor of London. He was born to Richard Rivers, steward of Edward Stafford, 3rd Duke of Buckingham's lands. Alternate spelling includes John Ryvers. He was a grocer and member of the Worshipful Company of Grocers, Sheriff of London in 1566, and Lord Mayor of London in 1573. Paul Weller
Paul John Weller (born John William Weller; 25 May 1958) is an English singer-songwriter and musician. Weller achieved fame with the punk rock/ new wave/mod revival band the Jam (1972–1982). He had further success with the blue-eyed soul music of the Style Council (1983–1989), before establishing himself as a solo artist with his eponymous 1992 album. Despite widespread critical recognition as a singer, lyricist, and guitarist, Weller has remained a national, rather than international, star and much of his songwriting is rooted in English society. Steve Cradock
Stephen "Steve" Cradock (born 22 August 1969 in Solihull) is an English guitarist, most notable for playing in the rock group Ocean Colour Scene. Cradock also plays the guitar in Paul Weller's band, having appeared on all of Weller's solo records following his self-titled debut solo album. Cradock began playing lead guitar for British Ska band The Specials in 2014. He is a distinctive guitarist, who has a retro, 1960s sound. Cradock's influences include The Beatles and The Rolling Stones. Cradock, also known as Fanny, also plays keyboards, bass guitar and drums. Simon Geoffrey Fowler (born 25 May 1965 in Meriden, Warwickshire) is an English singer and acoustic guitarist, best known as the frontman of Ocean Colour Scene. The Fanatics Simon Fowler commenced his music career as the lead singer and songwriter for Birmingham band The Fanatics, which consisted of Simon Fowler (vocals & guitar), Damon Minchella (bass), Paul Wilkes (guitar) and Carolyn Bullock (drums). I Told You So (OCS Song)
"I Told You So" is a song by Ocean Colour Scene (OCS) and the first single to be taken from the band's 2007 album ''On the Leyline''. The song was released on 16 April 2007 in the UK and on the 13 April in Ireland. It peaked at number 34 on the UK Official Singles Chart in its first week of release. As of 2021, it remains their last UK Top 40 hit. In the "On The Leyline Promo Trailer" lead singer Simon Fowler says that this is his first pop song he has written in a while and he also said he wrote it for a bit of fun. For the b sides to CD 1 the band included the song "Jimmy Wonder", which was written by Simon Fowler and originally entitled "It's a Lifetime Sentence Loving You" recalling his experiences of the producer Jimmy Miller. The song was debuted by Simon Fowler during an interview and live session for Johnnie Walkers Drivetime show on BBC Radio 2in March 2006 and has yet to be played by the full band.
