''On the Attack'' is a DVD of live recordings and videos of Australian band, The Cat Empire. The package also contains an eight track bonus compact disc. The concert filming took place between March and June, 2004 and the presentation introduces the band members as it follows them on tour. The Cat Empire
The Cat Empire are an Australian jazz/funk band, formed in Melbourne, Victoria, in 1999. For most of the band's duration, the core members were Felix Riebl (lead vocals, percussion), Harry James Angus (trumpet, vocals), Will Hull-Brown (drums), Jamshid "Jumps" Khadiwhala (turntables, percussion), Ollie McGill (keyboards, backing vocals) and Ryan Monro (bass, backing vocals). Monro retired from the band in March 2021, while Angus, Hull-Brown and Khadiwhala all left in April 2022. They are often supplemented by The Empire Horns, a brass duo composed of Ross Irwin (trumpet) and Kieran Conrau (trombone), among others. Their sound is a fusion of jazz, ska, funk and rock with heavy Latin influences. Live On Earth (Cat Empire Album)
''Live on Earth'' is the first full-length live album released by Melbourne band The Cat Empire. (The band had previously released an EP disc titled ''Live @ Adelphia''). The album is a compilation of tracks recorded at shows between August 2006 and December 2008. It included songs recorded at venues in Australia, France, the UK, the US and Canada. The album was originally scheduled to be released on 28 February 2009 in Australia, but was officially released a week earlier (though many retailers released the album days before the 21st.) ''Live on Earth'' was available with a signed album cover via online pre-order. The first single from the album, "How to Explain?", was released on the iTunes Store on 13 February 2009. The Sun (Cat Empire Album)
''The Sun'' is an album by The Cat Empire recorded in June 2002, and is a follow-up to their album ''Live @ Adelphia''. The album was never released for retail sale but was sold at performances during their American tour and, as such, there are very few authentic copies of the album. According to Felix Riebl (vocals and percussion), he himself does not have a copy of the album: "To be honest, I know next to nothing about this album, but I know there are a lot of Cat Empire fans who want to know which songs the album has and that much, I do know." Ryan Monro, The Cat Empire's bassist, claims to own one or two copies of the album. Bennetts Lane Jazz Club
Bennetts Lane Jazz Club, a live jazz performance music venue in Melbourne, Australia, was located at the end of its namesake lane off Little Lonsdale Street from 1992 to 2017. New owners planned to reopen the club in new premises in Flinders Lane, and open in the 2020s. History Entrepreneur Michael Tortoni opened the club on 27 November 1992, and added a second performance space in an adjoining building to the north called the Jazz Lab in January 2000 for the Melbourne International Jazz Festival. The club has hosted local, national and international musicians and was the flagship venue for the Melbourne Jazz Festival for many years. Harry James Angus
Harry James Angus (born 11 June 1982 Melbourne) is an Australian singer-songwriter, trumpet player and guitarist. He was one of the lead vocalists in the Melbourne band The Cat Empire along with Felix Riebl. He joined the group in early 2000 and left when the original line-up disbanded in 2021. He is the nephew of comedian, actress and writer, Mary-Anne Fahey (famous for playing Kylie Mole on The Comedy Company). History Angus has been playing trumpet since the age of twelve and learnt to scat from listening to the Jazz greats. He went to primary school at Malvern Primary School, where he would often perform as a vocalist at school assemblies. He then went to high school at McKinnon Secondary College and was taught by Ian Orr in Melbourne before studying at the Victorian College of the Arts.
