Omri Afek
Omri Afek ( he, עמרי אפק; born 31 March 1979) is a retired Israeli footballer who last played for Bnei Yehuda Tel Aviv. Afek was mainly a midfielder that also operated as a defender. Early life Afek was born in Kiryat Ono, Israel, to a Jewish family. Football career During his professional career, Afek played for Hapoel Tel Aviv, Maccabi Jaffa (loan), Beitar Jerusalem, Maccabi Haifa and Bnei Yehuda Tel Aviv. He also had a two-year abroad spell at Racing de Santander; in 2003–04 La Liga, he signed alongside compatriot Dudu Aouate, both rejoining Yossi Benayoun - the club also sold that very summer a fourth Israeli, Ilan Bakhar. In his second year, Afek was loaned to '' Segunda División'' outfit UD Salamanca. Kiryat Ono
Kiryat Ono ( he, קִרְיַת אוֹנוֹ) is a city in the Tel Aviv District of Israel. It is located east of Tel Aviv. In it had a population of . Modern Kiryat Ono is not to be confused with the biblical Ono, which was located in the area that is now Or Yehuda. History During the 18th and 19th centuries, the area of Kiryat Ono belonged to the Nahiyeh (sub-district) of Lod that encompassed the area of the present-day city of Modi'in-Maccabim-Re'ut in the south to the present-day city of El'ad in the north, and from the foothills in the east, through the Lod Valley to the outskirts of Jaffa in the west. This area was home to thousands of inhabitants in about 20 villages, who had at their disposal tens of thousands of hectares of prime agricultural land. The Israel Toto Cup ( he, גביע הטוטו, ''Gvia Ha'Toto'') is an association football tournament that features clubs in the two highest divisions in Israel: the Israeli Premier League ( Ligat Ha'Al), and the second division Liga Leumit. Israeli Cup
The Israel State Cup ( he, גביע המדינה, ''Gvia HaMedina''), is a knockout cup competition in Israeli football, run by the Israel Football Association (IFA). The State Cup was first held in 1928 as the People's Cup. Because it involves clubs of all standards playing against each other, there is the possibility for "minnows" from the lower divisions to become "giant-killers" by eliminating top clubs from the tournament, although lower division teams rarely reach the final. The current holders of the State Cup are the Israeli Premier League club Hapoel Haifa, who beat Beitar Jerusalem in the 2018 final on May 9, 2018. 2008–09 Israeli Premier League
The 2008–09 Israeli Premier League season began on 30 August 2008, and ended on 1 June 2009. Beitar Jerusalem were the defending champions, having won their 6th league title the previous year. Two teams from Liga Leumit were promoted at the end of the previous season: Hakoah Amidar Ramat Gan and Hapoel Petah Tikva. The two teams relegated were Hapoel Kfar Saba and Maccabi Herzliya. At a 24 June 2008 IFA administration meeting it was decided that the league would be expanded to 16 clubs for the following season. Due to the expansion, only one team was relegated directly to Liga Leumit, while five clubs were promoted. The eleventh-ranked team played in a play-off match against the sixth-ranked team from Liga Leumit. Maccabi Haifa clinched their 11th title after a 0–2 win against Maccabi Netanya on 23 May 2009. 1999–2000 Israeli Premier League
The 1999–2000 Israeli Premier League season was the first in its history. The league had been formed to replace the former top division, Liga Leumit, which became the country's second tier. Before the season started Ironi Ashdod and Liga Alef side Hapoel Ashdod were merged into F.C. Ashdod. The season took place from the first match on 14 August 1999 to the final match on 27 May 2000.
