Omicron (film)
''Omicron'' is a 1963 Italian science fiction-comedy film directed by Ugo Gregoretti. The plot concerns an alien who takes over the body of an Earthling (a deceased factory worker who is resurrected) in order to learn about The Planet Earth and threatens the human kind. Ugo Gregoretti
Ugo Gregoretti (28 September 1930 – 5 July 2019) was an Italian film, television and stage director, actor, screenwriter, author and television host. He directed 20 films during his career. Biography Born in Rome, Gregoretti entered RAI in 1953, working as a documentarist and a director. In 1960 he won the Premio Italia Award for the television documentary ''La Sicilia del Gattopardo''. In 1962 he made his film debut with the comedy-drama ''I nuovi angeli''. Since 1978 he started his activity on stage as director of prose and opera representations. His activity as director was mainly characterized by a sensitivity to the political and social issues combined to a peculiar use of irony and satire. He was president of the Turin Permanent Theatre from 1980 to 1989 and in 1995 he was nominated president of the Accademia Nazionale di Arte Drammatica Silvio D'Amico. Rosemary Dexter
Rosemarie Dexter (19 July 1944 – 8 September 2010), best known as Rosemary Dexter, was a British film actress who worked in Italy. Life and career Born in Quetta to a British father and an Anglo-Burmese mother, Dexter entered the film industry in 1963, when during a vacation in Rome she met director Ugo Gregoretti who offered her a significant role in his science fiction film ''Omicron''. She then became a very active actress until the mid-seventies, when she retired from acting at age 32. She was found dead in her house in Recanati, in September 2010; she had long been suffering from illness. Renato Salvatori
Renato Salvatori (20 March 1933 – 27 March 1988) was an Italian actor. Born in Seravezza, Province of Lucca, Salvatori began his career in his teens playing juvenile, romantic roles. After working with directors such as Luchino Visconti, Roberto Rossellini and Vittorio De Sica, he developed into one of Italy's strongest characters actors. He met French actress Annie Girardot on the set of the film '' Rocco and His Brothers'' (1960) and married her on 6 January 1962. They had a daughter, Giulia; later the couple separated but never divorced. Salvatori died in Rome of cirrhosis of the liver on March 27, 1988, seven days after his 55th birthday. Piero Umiliani (17 July 1926 – 14 February 2001) was an Italian composer of film scores. Biography Umiliani was born in Florence, Tuscany. Like many of his Italian colleagues at that time, he composed the scores for many exploitation films in the 1960s and 1970s, covering genres such as Spaghetti Westerns, Eurospy, Giallo, and softcore sex films. His composition "Mah Nà Mah Nà" (1968) was originally used in '' Sweden: Heaven and Hell'', a 1968 Mondo documentary about Sweden. A comedy film is a category of film which emphasizes humor. These films are designed to make the audience laugh through amusement. Films in this style traditionally have a happy ending ( black comedy being an exception). Comedy is one of the oldest genres in film and it is derived from the classical comedy in theatre. Some of the earliest silent films were comedies, as slapstick comedy often relies on visual depictions, without requiring sound. When sound films became more prevalent during the 1930s, comedy films took another swing, as laughter could result from burlesque situations but also dialogue. Comedy, compared with other film genres, puts much more focus on individual stars, with many former stand-up comics transitioning to the film industry due to their popularity.
