Omatako Constituency
Omatako Constituency is an electoral constituency in the Otjozondjupa Region of Namibia. It had 11,998 inhabitants in 2004 and 7,372 registered voters . The constituency contains the settlements of Kalkfeld, Hochfeld and Ovitoto, as well as the Osire refugee camp and the Osona military base. Omatako Constituency is named after the Omatako Mountains, a prominent geological feature of the constituency. Politics Omatako is one of only a few Namibian constituencies that changed their political vote in the 2015 regional election and opted for a non-SWAPO councillor. Israel Hukura of the National Unity Democratic Organisation (NUDO) narrowly won with 1,187 votes, beating SWAPO's candidate Susana Mutjitua Hikopua, who gained 1,144 votes. Omatako Mountains
The Omatako Mountains (german: Omatakoberge) are two mountains in central Namibia Otjozondjupa Region, located some north of Okahandja. Their name in the Herero language literally means "buttocks". Omatako Constituency, where the mountains are situated, derives its name from them. The northwesterly of the two peaks, the Great Omatako (), is in height, considerably higher than the other peak. The first European to record the locality was C. J. Andersson in 1851. 2020 Namibian Local And Regional Elections
Local and regional elections were held in Namibia on 25 November 2020 to elect new local and regional councils. The previous round of elections was held in 2015 and won by the ruling SWAPO party. Democratic Turnhalle Alliance
The Popular Democratic Movement (PDM), formerly the Democratic Turnhalle Alliance (DTA), is an amalgamation of political parties in Namibia, registered as one singular party for representation purposes. In coalition with the United Democratic Front, it formed the official opposition in Parliament until the parliamentary elections in 2009. The party currently holds 16 seats in the Namibian National Assembly and one seat in the Namibian National Council and is the official opposition. McHenry Venaani is president of the PDM. National Unity Democratic Organisation
The National Unity Democratic Organisation (NUDO) is a political party in Namibia. It has been represented in the National Assembly of Namibia and in the National Council of Namibia since it split from the Democratic Turnhalle Alliance (now PDM) prior to the 2004 general and local elections. The party's president is Esther Muinjangue. History NUDO was founded by Mburumba Kerina, Clemens Kapuuo, and Hosea Kutako in September 1965 at the suggestion of the Herero Chief’s Council. It was thus, at that time, an organisation that had mainly Herero followers. The South West Africa People's Organisation (, SWAPO; af, Suidwes-Afrikaanse Volks Organisasie, SWAVO; german: Südwestafrikanische Volksorganisation, SWAVO), officially known as the SWAPO Party of Namibia, is a political party and former independence movement in Namibia. Osona () is a comarca situated in Catalonia, Northeast Spain. Its capital is Vic. Its population in 2001 was 129,543. Osona covers roughly the same area as the historic Catalan county of Osona.
