Omar Musa
Omar bin Musa (born 9 January 1984) is a Malaysian-Australian author, poet, rapper and visual artist from Queanbeyan, New South Wales, Australia. He has released three solo hip hop records (including ''Since Ali Died'') and three books of poetry. His debut novel ''Here Come the Dogs'' was published in 2014. ''Here Come the Dogs'' was long-listed for the Miles Franklin Award and Musa was named one of the Sydney Morning Herald's Young Novelists of the Year in 2015. Career Musa was runner up in the 2007 Australian Poetry Slam, before winning in 2008 at the Sydney Opera House. He went on to win the Indian Ocean Poetry Slam in 2010. Musa has published three books of poetry: ''The Clocks'', ''Parang'' and ''Millefiori''. Meaning "machete" in Malay, ''Parang'' deals with his Malaysian heritage, migration and loss. Daniel Paul Merriweather (born 17 February 1982) is an Australian R&B recording artist. Merriweather's debut solo album, '' Love & War'', was released in June 2009. It entered the UK Albums Chart at number two. It was preceded by two singles, "Change" and "Red", which both made the top 10 on the related singles chart. Merriweather has won two ARIA Music Awards, Best Urban Release in 2005 for "She's Got Me" and Best Male Artist in 2009 for ''Love & War''. In addition to his solo career, he has worked as a featured vocalist for other well-known artists. His guest vocals are included on album tracks by Disco Montego, Mark Ronson and Phrase. ''Koolism'' is an Australian hip hop duo originating from Canberra, Australian Capital Territory. The members are lyricist Hau Latukefu (born Langomi-e-Hau Latukefu, 1976, Queanbeyan, Australia) and producer/DJ/musician Danielsan Ichiban (born Daniel Elleson, 1975, Auckland, New Zealand). History ''Koolism'' started out in 1992 when Elleson (aka DJ Rampage) joined a group by the name Tribe Ledda L (L for Latukefu), which comprised Hau and his cousins Hounga and Sione. Langomi-e-Hau Latukefu (born 1976), better known as Hau Latukefu, or sometimes MC Hau or simply Hau, is an Australian hip hop musician and radio host. He is best known as half of the duo Koolism (with Danielsan) and as the host of Triple J's hip hop program. The Last Kinection is an Indigenous hip-hop group from Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia. Joelistics (born Joel Ma) is an Australian MC, producer and multi-instrumentalist, who is a member of the Melbourne-based Australian hip hop group TZU and a solo artist on the Elefant Traks music label.
