Omar Jimenez
Omar Fernando Jimenez (born November 27, 1993) is an American journalist and correspondent working for CNN. Early life and education Jimenez was born in Worcester, Massachusetts and raised in Kennesaw, Georgia. He is Afro-Latino; his mother, Jayne Morgan, is a cardiologist and African American, and his father, Omar Jimenez, is a neurosurgeon and native of Colombia. Jimenez has two brothers. When he was in sixth grade, his parents divorced, and he lived with his mother. Jimenez attended Kennesaw Mountain High School. While playing high school basketball, Jimenez fractured his back and was unable to play for eight months. He attended the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University, where he majored in broadcast journalism. He played on the men's varsity basketball team from 2011 to 2013 at Northwestern after a successful walk-on tryout. Jacob Blake
On August 23, 2020, Jacob S. Blake, a 29-year-old black man, was shot and seriously injured by police officer Rusten Sheskey in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Sheskey shot Blake in the back four times and the side three times after Blake opened the driver's door to his girlfriend's SUV and attempted to reach inside. Sheskey said that he believed he was about to be stabbed, since Blake was holding a knife. Earlier during the encounter, Blake had been tasered by two officers, but the tasers failed to disable him and he continued towards his vehicle. In the aftermath of the August 2020 police shooting of Jacob Blake, protests, riots, and civil unrest occurred in Kenosha, Wisconsin, and around the United States as part of the larger 2020–2022 United States racial unrest and Black Lives Matter movements. In addition to street protests, marches, and demonstrations, the shooting also led to the 2020 American athlete boycotts. Timothy James Walz ( ; born April 6, 1964) is an American politician and retired educator. A member of the Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party (DFL), he has served as the 41st governor of Minnesota since 2019.
