''3'' is the third studio album by American heavy metal band Soulfly released in 2002 through Roadrunner Records. ''3'' has sold 195,000 copies as of March 11, 2008. Album information The album artwork features an Om (ॐ), a spiritual icon in Indian religions. The original title for the album was ''Downstroy'', after the opening track of the album. Max Cavalera later stated that he regretted changing the album's title. Songs Both of the first two tracks were the only singles released from the album, " Downstroy" and "Seek 'n' Strike." The song "One" features guest vocals from Ill Nino’s Christian Machado and uses the title as first word of the two word clauses per line: 'One soul / One heart / One man / One truth / One tribe / One life / One God'. "L.O.T.M" (acronym for "Last of the Mohicans") is a Native American-themed metal song named after the 1826 novel of the same name. Soulfly
Soulfly is an American heavy metal band formed in Los Angeles, California, in 1997, and later based out of Phoenix, Arizona. Soulfly is led by former Sepultura frontman Max Cavalera, who formed the band after he left the Brazilian group in 1996. To date the band has released twelve studio albums, one tour EP, twenty-three singles, one video album, and twelve music videos. Their debut album, ''Soulfly'', was released on April 21, 1998, while their most recent album, ''Totem'', was released on August 5, 2022 Soulfly incorporates many styles of metal with Brazilian tribal and world music, much like Cavalera's previous band Sepultura. The original lyrical content revolved around spirituality, political and religious themes, with later albums encompassing other themes including war, violence, aggression, slavery, hatred and anger. Berimbau
The berimbau () is a single-string percussion instrument, a musical bow, originally from Africa, that is now commonly used in Brazil. The berimbau would eventually be incorporated into the practice of the Afro-Brazilian martial art ''capoeira'', the berimbau leads the capoeiristas movement in the ''roda''—the faster the berimbau is playing the faster the capoeirista moves in the game. The instrument is known for being the subject matter of a popular song by Brazilian guitarist Baden Powell, with lyrics by Vinicius de Moraes. The instrument is also a part of Candomblé-de-caboclo tradition. History The berimbau's origins have not been fully researched, though it is most likely an adaptation of African gourde musical bows, as no Indigenous Brazilian or European people use musical bows. ''Surf Nicaragua'' is an EP from Arizona thrash metal band, Sacred Reich. It was released on October 4, 1988 on Metal Blade Records and follows the band's debut album, ''Ignorance'', released the previous year. The EP contains a cover version of the Black Sabbath song, "War Pigs", which also appeared on the band's next EP, '' Alive at the Dynamo'' in 1989, in live form. The song "Surf Nicaragua" contains a part from the song " Wipe Out" as well as the drum part from the Hawaii 5-0 theme song. The live tracks "Ignorance" and "Death Squad" were only supposed to be on the CD version, but due to a pressing error, they appeared on all formats. Incite is an American groove/thrash metal band from Phoenix, Arizona, formed in 2004. The band currently consists of Richie Cavalera (vocals), Christopher "EL" Elsten (bass), Lennon Lopez (drums) and Mike DeLeon (guitar). Cristian Machado (born July 23, 1974) is a Brazilian-American musician, who is the current vocalist of the American heavy metal musical ensemble Lions at the Gate, is the former vocalist for the nu metal band Ill Niño as well as a featured vocalist in the Roadrunner United project. Pledge Of Allegiance
The Pledge of Allegiance of the United States is a patriotic recited verse that promises allegiance to the flag of the United States and the republic of the United States of America. The first version, with a text different from the one used at present, was written in 1885 by Captain George Thatcher Balch, a Union Army officer in the Civil War who later authored a book on how to teach patriotism to children in public schools.
