Olympian Gods (DC Comics)
The Olympian Gods are characters based upon Classical mythology who appear primarily in ''Wonder Woman'', '' Captain Marvel'' and ''Aquaman'' comics. History Pre-Crisis era New era When a Godwave spilled forth from the creation of the Fourth World, the Earth was seeded with great power. It first manifested in the form of old gods, then of metahumans. Some of the oldest of these gods were hidden from the universe until the time of ancient Greece by the sorceress, Hecate. Hecate reasoned that the Olympian Gods (as they would eventually be called) were greatly weakened after usurping power from their father Cronus and the Titans of Myth. She feared that other powerful gods in the universe (notably Darkseid of Apokolips) would seize Earth for himself. Because of Hecate's enchantment, Darkseid wrongly believed that he and the other New Gods pre-dated the Olympians. One day, the young Uxas of Apokolips came to Rome. Image Comics
Image Comics is an American comic book publisher and is the third largest comic book and graphic novel publisher in the industry in both unit and market share. It was founded in 1992 by several high-profile illustrators as a venue for creator-owned properties, in which comics creators could publish material of their own creation without giving up the copyrights to those properties. Normally this isn't the case in the work for hire-dominated American comics industry, where the legal author is a publisher, such as Marvel Comics or DC Comics, and the creator is an employee of that publisher. Its output was originally dominated by superhero and fantasy series from the studios of the founding Image partners, but now includes comics in many genres by numerous independent creators. Olympia (comics)
The Eternals are a fictional extraterrestrial race of humanoids appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. They were created by Jack Kirby, making their first appearance in ''The Eternals'' #1 (July 1976). In the Marvel Universe, the Eternals are an offshoot of humanity known as ''Homo immortalis'' which were created one million years ago by the enigmatic alien Celestials to defend Earth with their superhuman powers and abilities. Their primary adversaries are the Deviants, who share a similar origin and pose a regular threat to humanity. Due to their virtual immortality, Eternals have largely secluded themselves from humans, with their god-like status forming the basis of various mythological figures around the world. Since their appearance, the Eternals have had several of their own series, in addition to crossing into other titles, such as ''Thor'' and ''X-Men''. Olympian (comics)
The Olympian is the name of two fictional characters in DC Comics. Publication history The original Olympian first appeared in "The Super Friends" #9 (December 1977) and was part of a 3-issue story arc that introduced other international super heroes, and the Wonder Twins, to DC continuity. Later, a two-story arc appeared in "The Super Friends" issues #45 & #46 (June & July 1981) where Olympian once again teamed up with several international heroes and The Super Friends. Olympian later appeared in ''DC Comics Presents'' #46 (June 1982) and was the first time that he and the other international heroes were working as a team, under the name The Global Guardians. He was created by Nelson Bridwell and Alex Saviuk. The second Olympian first appeared in ''Wonder Woman'' (volume 3) #30 (May 2009) and was created by Gail Simone.
