Olympique Grande-Synthe Football (; commonly referred to as OGS or simply Grande-Synthe) is a French football club based in Grande-Synthe in the Nord-Pas-de-Calais region. The club was founded in 1963 and is a part of a sports club that consists of several other sports. Grande-Synthe (; vls, Groot-Sinten) is a Communes of France, commune in the Nord (département), Nord Departments of France, department in the Nord-Pas de Calais Regions of France, region in northern France. It is the third-largest suburb of the city of Dunkirk, Dunkerque (Dunkirk) and lies adjacent to it on the west. A midfielder is an outfield position in association football. Midfielders may play an exclusively defensive role, breaking up attacks, and are in that case known as defensive midfielders. José-Karl Pierre-Fanfan (born 26 July 1975) is a French former professional footballer who played as a centre-back. Career A central defender, Pierre-Fanfan was born in Saint-Pol-sur-Mer and began his career at USL Dunkerque, where he played for four seasons before earning a move to RC Lens. In his first season at Lens he helped them to the French title and played a key role in the clubs run to the UEFA Cup semi-final in 2000. He joined AS Monaco in 2001, then moved to Paris Saint-Germain in 2004, where he played in the 2004–05 UEFA Champions League campaign. On 6 July 2005, Fanfan signed for Scottish Premier League club Rangers on a free transfer. Rémy René Paul Vercoutre (born 26 June 1980) is a French former professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper. He's currently the goalkeeping coach of Olympique Lyonnais. Career Vercoutre was born in Grande-Synthe, Nord. He previously played for Montpellier, before moving to Lyon in 2002. In 2004, he joined Strasbourg on loan, but only managed to play eight games for them before returning to Lyon. He did however play as they won the 2005 Coupe de la Ligue Final. Due to Grégory Coupet's injury for the 2007 portion of the 2007–08 Ligue 1 season, Vercoutre became Lyon's first choice keeper and played in every game until Coupet's return.
