The modern Olympic Games or Olympics (french: link=no, Jeux olympiques) are the leading international sporting events featuring summer and winter sports competitions in which thousands of athletes from around the world participate in a variety of competitions. With more than 10,000 artifacts, the museum is the largest archive of Olympic Games in the world and one of Lausanne's prime tourist site draws attracting more than 250,000 visitors each year. The Olympic Museum and the Olympic Park (sculpture garden between the museum and Lake Léman) are located at Ouchy, south of Lausanne. The Australian Sports Museum (formerly the National Sports Museum) is a museum dedicated to Australian sport and is located within the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Melbourne, Australia. There are exhibits for sports such as cricket, Australian rules football, the Summer and Winter Olympic Games, tennis, rugby league, rugby union, soccer, basketball, boxing and netball. Lake Placid Winter Olympic Museum
The Lake Placid Olympic Museum commemorates the 1932 Winter Olympics and 1980 Winter Olympics, which were based in the Olympic village of Lake Placid. It is one of few Olympic museums in the United States and is a part of the work of New York State Olympic Regional Development Authority in the Lake Placid Olympic Region. Lake Placid is the only North American city to have hosted two separate Winter Olympics. The museum, which was opened by New York State in 1994, is located within the Olympic Center. Norwegian Olympic Museum (''Norges Olympiske Museum'') is located at Maihaugen in Lillehammer, Norway. The Norwegian Olympic Museum shows the history of the Olympic Games in ancient and modern times, with a focus on the 1952 Winter Olympics in Oslo and 1994 Winter Olympics at Lillehammer. The New Zealand Olympic Museum, was situated on Queens Wharf, Wellington, New Zealand. It was established on 23 June 1998 and closed in January 2013 after the New Zealand Olympic Committee (NZOC) relocated to Auckland. The museum's collection focuses on New Zealand's involvement in the Olympic movement and promoting Olympic values. Sarajevo Winter Olympics Museum
The Sarajevo Winter Olympics Museum is a museum dedicated to the XIV Winter Olympic Games and the XIV European Youth Olympic Winter Festival that were both held respectively in 1984 and 2019 in Sarajevo. It was founded by the decision of the Organizing Committee of the XIV Winter Olympic Games with the desire to permanently preserve the memory of the organization and the Olympic event. The museum opened on February 8, 1984. The museum realized more than 300 thematic programs from 1984 to 1992. The museum was destroyed on April 27, 1992, during the Siege of Sarajevo.
