Olympiatoppen is an organisation that is part of Norwegian Olympic and Paralympic Committee and Confederation of Sports with responsibility for training Norwegian elite sport. Olympiatoppen is based at the Toppidrettssenteret between Norwegian School of Sport Sciences and Sognsvann. The leader of Olympiatoppen is Tore Øvrebø. Central is the idea of ''coaches'' for priority sports. These ''coaches'' are Johan Kaggestad for strength sports, together with Atle Kvålsvoll and Roger Gjedsvik, Michael Jørgensen for technical sports, and Marit Breivik and Torgeir Bryn for team sports. The ''coaches'' follow up the ports attend team activities, events and take a role in the optimising of opportunities to lead. Marit Breivik
Marit Breivik (born 10 April 1955) is a former Norwegian team handball player, and former head coach for the Norway women's national handball team. As coach, she has led the team to victory in the 2008 Olympic tournament, the World Women's Handball Championship in 1999, and four European Women's Handball Championships, in 1998 (Netherlands), 2004 (Hungary), 2006 (Sweden) and 2008 (Macedonia). Playing career She was born in Levanger. As a player she played 140 games with the Norwegian national team from 1975 to 1983. She won three Norwegian national championships with her club Skogn IL. She has her education from the Norwegian School of Sport Sciences. Coaching career Breivik has been coach for clubs such as Byåsen IL and Larvik HK, and from 1994 head coach for the Norwegian national female team. Toppidrettssenteret
Toppidrettssenteret ( en, The Elite Sports Centre) is the training center of the Olympiatoppen, the elite branch of the Norwegian Olympic and Paralympic Committee and Confederation of Sports. It is located between the Norwegian School of Sport Sciences and the recreational area Sognsvann. The main building consists mainly of training rooms. Outside there are an association football pitch with artificial turf, an all-weather running track, an athletics throwing field, a bandy field, a basketball court, and facilities for skating and luge A luge is a small one- or two-person sled on which one sleds supine (face up) and feet-first. Tore Øvrebø
Tore Øvrebø (born 25 August 1965) is a Norwegian rowing (sport), rower. He competed in the Rowing at the 1988 Summer Olympics – Men's coxless pair, men's coxless pair event at the 1988 Summer Olympics. Øvrebø has also been a rowing coach, coaching Olaf Tufte. In 2013, he became acting director of Olympiatoppen, succeeding Jarle Aambø. The position was later made permanent. The Norwegian Olympic and Paralympic Committee and Confederation of Sports ( no, Norges idrettsforbund og olympiske og paralympiske komité; NIF) is the umbrella organization for sport in Norway. It is the largest volunteering organization in Norway, with more than 2 million members and 12,000 sports clubs in 19 region confederations and 54 national federations. Atle Kvålsvoll
Atle Sturla Kvålsvoll (born 10 April 1962) is a Norwegian former professional road cyclist. He rode the Tour de France six times between 1988 and 1994, finishing four times. His best performance was in 1990, when he finished 26th and contributed to Greg LeMond's winning the yellow jersey. He competed in the individual road race event at the 1984 Summer Olympics. Kvålsvoll finished second in the American Tour DuPont in 1990, 1991 and 1992 and then finished 3rd in 1993. He also won a stage in 1991 and 1992. Kvålsvoll is employed by the Norwegian sports organisation Olympiatoppen and was Thor Hushovd's coach. Olympic sports are contested in the Summer Olympic Games and Winter Olympic Games. The 2020 Summer Olympics included 33 sports; the 2022 Winter Olympics included seven sports. Torgeir Bryn (pronounced ; born 19 August 1964) is a Norwegian former professional basketball player. A 6'9" (2.06 m) and 250 lb (113 kg) center born in Oslo, Bryn is notable for being the only Norwegian who has played in the NBA thus far. Club career United States In the U.S., Bryn attended MiraCosta Community College (Oceanside, California) and then Southwest Texas State University ( San Marcos, Texas), where he played NCAA college basketball. At MiraCosta College Bryn played for Clete Adelman, older brother of NBA coach Rick Adelman.
