Olle Schmidt
Torsten Olof "Olle" Fredrik Schmidt (born July 22, 1949 in Axvall, Västra Götaland County) is a Swedish politician. He served as a Member of the European Parliament for the Swedish Liberal People's Party, part of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe, between 1999 and 2004, and again between 2006 and 2014. Education Schmidt has a master's degree in literature, Nordic languages, history, politics and information from Lund University. He obtained his bachelor's from Lund University in 1972 and master's in 1974. Early career At the end of the 1970s he worked as an ombudsman for the Swedish Liberal People's Party in the region of Scania. From 1981 to 1982 Schmidt was the secretary of information for the then Ministry of Commerce and Industry under Minister of Commerce Björn Molin. For a short while he worked in the newspaper industry as the editorial writer for '' Göteborgs-Tidningen'' and the opinion editor at '' Göteborgs-Posten''. Political career During the ...
