Olivier Quesnel
Olivier Quesnel (born 1950) is a French press boss and director of automobile teams. In particular, he managed the competition departments of the two automobile brands Peugeot and Citroën, Citroën Racing and Peugeot Sport. Career Olivier Quesnel participated in the creation of Peugeot Talbot Sport with Jean Todt in 1980, then worked within the Michel Hommell Group, notably as director of the weekly magazine Auto Hebdo. In 2008, he was appointed head of Citroën Racing to replace Guy Fréquelin, who had retired. His first season was a success, as Citroën regained the two world rally championship titles for the first time since 2005. In the off-season, he was also appointed head of Peugeot Sport by the leaders of PSA. 2009 is like the previous year with the retention of two titles for Citroën in rallying and victory for Peugeot at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Peugeot's first victory at Le Mans since 1993 and the first major success for Peugeot Sport since 2002. Citroën Racing
Citroën Racing is a motorsport brand and department of the French automobile manufacturer, ''Automobiles Citroën''. It is most notable for entering the Citroën World Rally Team into the World Rally Championship until 2019, thus helping to propel Sébastien Loeb and Daniel Elena to become the most successful crew in the history of the series. As of January 2023, the department's primary function is manufacturing the C3 Rally2 along with distribution of parts, including for its catalogue of out-of-production cars. It no longer contests motorsport directly itself although Citroën provide support through the brand to privateer entries of the C3. Peugeot Sport is the department of French carmaker Peugeot responsible for motorsport activities. History Beginnings in rallying Peugeot Sport was formed in 1981 under the name of Peugeot Talbot Sport, after Jean Todt, a World Rally Championship co-driver for Talbot (automobile), Talbot driver Guy Fréquelin, was asked by Peugeot to create a sporting department for the PSA Peugeot Citroën group. Jean Todt
Jean Todt (; born 25 February 1946) is a French motor racing executive and former rally co-driver. He was previously director of Peugeot Talbot Sport and then Scuderia Ferrari Formula 1 team principal, before being appointed chief executive officer of Ferrari from 2004 to 2008. From 2009 to 2021 he served as the ninth president of the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA). In 1966, Todt started his career as a rally co-driver and participated in World Championship rallies until 1981 when, with Guy Fréquelin, he won the Constructors' World Rally Championship with Talbot Lotus. Under Todt's leadership, Peugeot won four World Rally Championship titles (drivers and manufacturers), won the Paris-Dakar Rally four times, and twice won the Le Mans 24 Hours. Guy Fréquelin
Guy Fréquelin (born 2 April 1945 at Langres) is a French former rally and sports car driver. Biography Perhaps Fréquelin's finest hour as a driver came when he finished runner-up only to Ari Vatanen, alongside then-navigator Jean Todt, at the wheel of a briefly competitive Sunbeam Lotus Talbot in the driver's classification of the 1981 World Rally Championship. It was during that year that he collected his only individual rally victory in the series, in Rally Argentina. Fréquelin was also part of a four-car Renault assault on the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1977 with their highly successful Alpine Renault A442B. 2009 24 Hours Of Le Mans
The 2009 24 Hours of Le Mans (french: 24 Heures du Mans 2009) was the 77th Grand Prix of Endurance, an endurance auto race run over 24 hours. It took place at the Circuit de la Sarthe, Le Mans, France, and was organised by the Automobile Club de l'Ouest (ACO) over 13–14 June 2009 and was started by Fiat and Ferrari chairman Luca Cordero di Montezemolo at 15:00 local time (13:00 UTC). A test day was initially scheduled for 31 May that year, but was canceled by the ACO due to economic concerns. The race was attended by 234,800 spectators. Peugeot succeeded in winning the race in the third year of the 908 HDi FAP program with drivers David Brabham, Marc Gené, and Alexander Wurz driving the No. 9 car for 382 laps; an all-French driving squad secured second place for Peugeot as well. Yves Matton
Yves Matton is a Belgian Rally Motorsport Car Racing champion and a former FIA Rally Director. He founded his self-named company MY Racing, before being appointment as Logistics Manager for Citroën Sport, and later becoming GM for Citroën Racing. He also served as a customer racing manager, and helped to track the development of young talented drivers. History Matton's love for motorsport began as he followed the Rallye du Condroz every year throughout his childhood in Huy. In 1986, after passing his driving test, he achieved one of his dreams when he took part in his favourite rally in an Opel Ascona.
