Olivia Byington
Olivia Maria Lustosa Byington (born December 24, 1958) is a Brazilian singer. Career Olívia started her career as a vocalist at the end of the 1970s, with the rock band Antena Coletiva, and with Jacques Morelembaum. She was quickly considered by the critic Sérgio Cabral as the "best singer of her generation". Her first record, " Corra o Risco", was recorded in 1978 with " Barca do Sol." The following year Olívia reached the top of the hit parade with the song " Lady Jane". Her third album, recorded in Cuba on the invitation of Silvio Rodríguez, broadened her horizons internationally. In 1994 Olívia arrived in Lisbon, where she performed many concerts at the Maria Matos Theater, and captivated an audience as yet unfamiliar with her work with her wide vocal range and singing. Geraldo Eduardo Ribeiro Carneiro is a Brazilians, Brazilian poet, lyricist and screenwriter for television, theater and cinema. He was born in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, on June 11, 1952. He began to express interest in art at a young age, influenced by the many writers and musicians who frequented the house of his parents, among them Paulo Mendes Campos, Jacob do Bandolim and Tom Jobim. In 1968, he started a partnership with Minas Gerais musician Egberto Gismonti that lasted 12 years and yielded more than 60 songs. Marcus Vinícius da Cruz e Mello Moraes (19 October 1913 – 9 July 1980), better known as Vinícius de Moraes () and nicknamed O Poetinha ("The little poet"), was a Brazilian poet, diplomat, lyricist, essayist, musician, singer, and playwright. Elizeth Moreira Cardoso (sometimes listed as Elisete Cardoso) (July 16, 1920 – May 7, 1990), was a singer and actress of great renown in Brazil. Biography Cardoso was born in Rio de Janeiro; her father was a serenader who played guitar, and her mother was an amateur singer. Elizeth began working at an early age and between 1930 and 1935 was a store clerk and hairdresser among other things. She was discovered by Jacob do Bandolim at her 16th birthday party, to which he was brought by her cousin Pedro, a popular figure among the musicians of the day. ''Canção do Amor Demais'' is 1958 album by Elizete Cardoso. It is often considered the first bossa nova album, and contains the first recordings of João Gilberto's guitar beat, which would go on to become a staple of bossa nova. Gilberto played guitar on "Chega de Saudade" and "Outra Vez". The music was composed by Vinícius de Moraes and Tom Jobim. Despite its historical importance, and although it was noticed by prominent people in the recording industry, the album's commercial impact was limited. It was released on the small Festa label, which had previously primarily made recordings featuring spoken poetry, and only two thousand copies were initially pressed. Cardoso, already recognized as one of Brazil's best-ever singers, was never identified as a bossa singer, although she would be featured on the legendary Black Orpheus soundtrack, another bossa landmark.
