Olivia Burges
Millicent Olivia Rawlins (''née'' Burges; 19 September 1892 – 3 August 1930) was a British Scouting and Girl Guide and Girl Scout, Guiding advocate. She was secretary to the Girl Guides' and Girl Scouts' first World Camp (Guiding), World Camp. Family life Burges was the first daughter of Colonel William Edward Parry Burges and Millicent Pettingal Burges (''née'' Miller). She was raised at the family's home in South Gloucestershire, called The Ridge. She had one sister. Burges married Stuart Blundell Rawlins, Major Stuart Blundell Rawlins in 1925. They had two sons, Christopher and Philip. At age 37, Burges maternal death, died giving birth to her third child, a daughter, who also died. Scouting The Burges family were friends of Robert Baden-Powell, 1st Baron Baden-Powell, who founded Scouting in 1907 and Guiding in 1910, and his wife, Olave Baden-Powell, Lady Baden-Powell. Westbury-on-Trym
Westbury on Trym is a suburb and council ward in the north of the City of Bristol, near the suburbs of Stoke Bishop, Westbury Park, Henleaze, Southmead and Henbury, in the southwest of England. With a village atmosphere, the place is partly named after the River Trym, which flows through it. History The origins of Westbury on Trym predate those of Bristol itself. In the 6th century Westbury was in the territory of Hwicce, which became part of Mercia in the 7th century. Chipping Sodbury
Chipping Sodbury is a market town and former civil parish, now in the parish of Sodbury, in the unitary authority area of South Gloucestershire, in the ceremonial county of Gloucestershire, England. It was founded in the 12th century by William le Gros. It is the principal settlement in the civil parish of Sodbury, which also includes the village of Old Sodbury. Little Sodbury is a nearby but separate civil parish. Sodbury parish council has elected to be known as Sodbury Town Council. At the 2011 census the population of Chipping Sodbury was 5,045, but in the last decade the town has become part of a much larger built-up area due to the rapid expansion of nearby Yate, with which it is contiguous to the west. Girl Guiding And Girl Scouting
A Girl Guide or Girl Scout is a member of a section of some Guiding organisations who is between the ages of 10 and 14. Age limits are different in each organisation. The term Girl Scout is used in the United States and several East Asian countries. The two terms are used synonymously within this article. Girl Guides are organised into units/troops averaging 15–30 girls under guidance of a team of leaders. Units subdivide into patrols of about six Guides and engage in outdoor and special interest activities. Units may affiliate with national and international organisations. Scouting in South West England is about Scouting activities in the governmental region of South West England. The largest number of Scouts, volunteer leaders and groups are members of the Scout Association of the United Kingdom while there are some traditional Scouting groups such as the Baden-Powell Scouts' Association.
