Oliver (song)
Norway was represented by Anita Skorgan, with the song "Oliver", at the 1979 Eurovision Song Contest, which took place on 31 March in Jerusalem, Israel. "Oliver" was chosen as the Norwegian entry at the Melodi Grand Prix on 10 February. This was the second of three Eurovision appearances (and a further uncredited fourth) for Skorgan. Before Eurovision Melodi Grand Prix 1979 The Melodi Grand Prix 1979 final round was held at the studios of broadcaster NRK in Oslo, hosted by Egil Teige. No live audience was present, nor was there a stage with scenery or props --only the orchestra and contestants, who were permitted to wear only simple clothing. The orchestra was conducted by Norwegian composer Egil Monn-Inversen. A total of 331 entries were received, and of them eight entries were selected. Anita Skorgan
Anita Skorgan (born 13 November 1958) is a Norwegian singer-songwriter. She represented Norway in the Eurovision Song Contest in (14th), (11th) and with Jan Teigen in (12th). She was also a backing singer at the and contests, and co-wrote the Norwegian Eurovision entry "For vår jord", which placed fifth. Personal life Born in Gothenburg, Sweden, Skorgan was once married to Jahn Teigen, another successful Norwegian singer-songwriter; constantly in the tabloids, the two were considered the first superstar celebrity couple in Norway. Norway has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 60 times since making its debut in and has only been absent twice since then. In 1970, the country boycotted the contest over disagreements about the voting structure, and in 2002, they were relegated. Maj Britt Andersen (born 15 November 1956) is a Norwegian singer. Biography She was born in Østre Toten and is a sister of Inger Lise Rypdal. Sigurd Jansen (born 4 March 1932) is a Norwegian composer, pianist and conductor. Biography Sigurd Alf Jansen was born in Horten, in Vestfold county, Norway. He studied classical music at the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo. He was a teacher of piano from 1957 to 1962. Jansen has worked as an orchestra leader at Chat Noir, and as jazz pianist, orchestra leader and arranger on a number of recordings. Since 1957 he has worked in the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation where he is responsible for the music of a variety of TV programs and movies.
