Oliveira do Hospital () is a municipality in the district of Coimbra, in the central part of continental Portugal. The population in 2011 was 20,855, in an area of 234.52 km². History Inhabited by ancient civilizations, Oliveira do Hospital has Roman settlements, Visigothic relics, noble Gothic mansions as well as ancient villages built of slate. António Manuel 'Tomané' Nunes Ferreira (born 15 January 1987 in Nogueira do Cravo, Oliveira do Hospital) is a Portuguese retired footballer who played as a striker. Dulce Pássaro (born 1953) is a Portuguese engineer and politician. She was Minister of Environment and Spatial Planning in Portugal between October 2009 and June 2011. Education Dulce dos Prazeres Fidalgo Álvaro Pássaro was born in the municipality of Oliveira do Hospital in Coimbra district on 23 November 1953. São Gião
São Gião is a parish (''freguesia'' in Portuguese), in the North of Portugal, on Serra da Estrela, the highest mountain range in Portugal. It belongs to the municipality of Oliveira do Hospital, and the district (''distrito'') of Coimbra. The population in 2011 was 425, in an area of 14.55 km2. It lies at an altitude of 704m, in the Beira region. It is an old Roman trading post. The old Roman bridge is still visible and in use to this day (to be confirmed).
