Olimpia Salas Martínez
Olimpia Salas Martínez (born 1958) is a professor and researcher at the Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education, State of Mexico. Her work has been recognized with Level 2 membership in the Sistema Nacional de Investigadores of Mexico (2014). She is a materials engineer with a doctorate in materials science and specialties in the processing of materials and the characterization of materials. She also has commercial experience in the manufacture of iron and steel products as well as in the aluminum industry. In 2012, she was awarded a patent for a “Method and apparatus for the multi-layer and multi-component coating of thin films on substrates, and multi-layer and multi-component coatings” in conjunction with Joaquín Esteban Osaguera Peña, Alejandro Rojo Valerio, Jorge Alberto Acosta Flores, Dulce Viridiana Melo Maximo and Jorge Alvarez Diaz (#20120282478). Sistema Nacional de Investigadores (National System of Researchers) or SNI is a governmental agency established in Mexico in 1984 to promote both the quantity and quality of research in Mexico, especially in the sciences. In the 1980s, the country suffered from “ brain drain,” with talent leaving Mexico for better economic opportunities in other places in the world. SNI first worked to establish compensation guides to keep researchers in the country, but since has also been involved in the reform of Mexico’s graduate-level education. Joaquín Esteban Oseguera Peña is a medical professor and researcher specializing in thermochemical treatments involving plasma and materials mechanical engineering. Oseguera Peña has a bachelor’s in physics, and a doctorate in materials engineering from the Instituto Politécnico Nacional. He also did post graduate work in Paris. He has worked with the Tec de Monterrey since 1980, accepting his current position as professor and researcher at the School of Design at the Engineering and Architecture department of the State of Mexico Campus in 1990. An academy ( Attic Greek: Ἀκαδήμεια; Koine Greek Ἀκαδημία) is an institution of secondary or tertiary higher learning (and generally also research or honorary membership). The name traces back to Plato's school of philosophy, founded approximately 385 BC at Akademia, a sanctuary of Athena, the goddess of wisdom and skill, north of Athens, Greece.
