Ole Ålgård
Ole Ålgård (9 September 1921 – 26 January 1995) was a Norwegian diplomat. Early life He was born in Gjesdal as a son of farmer and petty officer Gabriel Aalgaard (1881–1973) and Berta Serine Egeland (1895–1983). He finished his secondary education at Stavanger Cathedral School in and graduated with the cand.jur. degree from the University of Oslo in 1946. He chaired ''Sosialistisk studentlag'' in 1946, and was hired as a secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the same year. He worked two years in Moscow before returning to Norway in 1950. In November 1947 he married Rigmor Braathe. Later career From 1951 to 1956 he was a legation secretary in Vienna, changing to chargé d'affaires as Norway got an embassy in the country. He mainly worked in Norway from 1956 to 1961, as an embassy counsellor at the Norwegian United Nations embassy from 1961 to 1964, and as embassy counsellor in the Council of Europe from 1965 to 1967. Gabriel Aalgaard
Gabriel Aalgaard (9 September 1881 – 1973) was a Norwegian agriculturalist and politician. He was born in Ålgård as a son of petty officer and farmer Ole Aalgaard (1848–1936) and Martha Ueland (1859–1915). He took petty officer training himself, graduating from officer school in 1903. He was a farmer from 1918, and in the military he reached the rank of Lieutenant in 1930. He was best known as the chairman of Norske Eggcentraler from 1929 to 1952 and board member of the Norwegian Poultry Association from 1926 to 1933. He was the deputy mayor of Gjestal from 1926 to 1931, and was later a municipal council member from 1935 to 1946. Gjesdal
Gjesdal is a municipality in Rogaland county, Norway. It is located in the traditional district of Jæren. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Ålgård. Other villages in Gjesdal include Dirdal, Frafjord, Gilja, Gjesdal, and Oltedal. The municipality lies about to the southwest of the city of Stavanger in southwestern Norway. The European route E39 highway runs through the western side of the municipality. On the east side of the municipality, the Frafjord Tunnel connects the Frafjord valley with the rest of the municipality. Norwegian Ambassador To China
The List of diplomats of Norway to China began when diplomatic relations were established in 1851. The establishment of diplomatic relations took place during the union between Sweden and Norway, and a Norwegian-Swedish consulate general was established in Guangzhou. A vice consulate was set up in Shanghai in 1853. When the vice consulate in Shanghai became the consulate general in 1863, and the consulate general in Guangzhou was upgraded to a vice consulate. Helge Akre
Helge Akre (1 March 1903 – 12 May 1986) was a Norwegian diplomat. He was a son of Herman Skyrud (1859–1913) and Oline Akre (1871–1967), and bore his mother's last name from 1933. He took his secondary education in Rouen and graduated from the Royal Frederick University with the cand.jur. degree in 1933. He worked as a translator and attorney before being hired in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1936. He served in Brazil, Japan, China, Poland, the Soviet Union and Czechoslovakia in his early career. He was then the consul-general in Rotterdam from 1951 to 1958 and Chicago from 1958 to 1963. From 1963 he served as the Norwegian ambassador to the People's Republic of China. From 1967 he led the Norwegian embassy in Iceland. The Order of the Dannebrog ( da, Dannebrogordenen) is a Danish order of chivalry instituted in 1671 by Christian V. Until 1808, membership in the order was limited to fifty members of noble or royal rank, who formed a single class known as ''White Knights'' to distinguish them from the ''Blue Knights'' who were members of the Order of the Elephant. In 1808, the Order was reformed and divided into four classes. The ''Grand Commander'' class is reserved to persons of princely origin. It is awarded only to royalty with close family ties with the Danish Royal House. The statute of the Order was amended in 1951 by a Royal Ordinance so that both men and women could be members of the Order.
