Old Tucson Studios
Old Tucson (formerly Old Tucson Studios) is an American movie studio and theme park just west of Tucson, Arizona, adjacent to the Tucson Mountains and close to the western portion of Saguaro National Park. Built in 1939 for the movie ''Arizona'' (1940), it has been used for the filming location of many movies and television westerns since then, such as ''Gunfight at the O.K. Corral'' (1957), '' Rio Bravo ''(1959), ''El Dorado'' (1966), ''Little House on the Prairie'' TV series of the 1970s–1980s, the film ''Three Amigos!'' (1986) and the popular film ''Tombstone'' (1993). It was opened to the public in 1960 as a theme park with historical tours offered about the movies filmed there, along with live cast entertainment featuring stunt shows, shootouts, can-can shows...as well as themed events. Jean Arthur
Jean Arthur (born Gladys Georgianna Greene; October 17, 1900 – June 19, 1991) was an American Broadway and film actress whose career began in silent films in the early 1920s and lasted until the early 1950s. Arthur had feature roles in three Frank Capra films: ''Mr. Deeds Goes to Town'' (1936) with Gary Cooper, '' You Can't Take It with You'' (1938) co-starring James Stewart, and '' Mr. Smith Goes to Washington'' (1939), also starring Stewart. These three films all championed the "everyday heroine", personified by Arthur. ''Last Train from Gun Hill'' is a 1959 Western in VistaVision and Technicolor, directed by John Sturges. It stars Kirk Douglas, Anthony Quinn and Earl Holliman. Douglas and Holliman had previously appeared together in Sturges' ''Gunfight at the O.K. Corral'' (1957), which used much of the same crew. Plot Two old friends, Matt Morgan (Kirk Douglas) and Craig Belden (Anthony Quinn), now find themselves on opposite sides of the law. Belden, a rich cattle baron, is the de facto ruler of the town of Gun Hill. ''Cimarron'' is a 1960 American Western film based on the Edna Ferber novel '' Cimarron''. The film stars Glenn Ford and Maria Schell and was directed by Anthony Mann and Charles Walters, though Walters is not credited onscreen. Ferber's novel was previously adapted as a film in 1931; that version won three Academy Awards. ''Cimarron'' was the first of three epics (along with ''El Cid'' and ''The Fall of the Roman Empire'') that Mann directed. ''The Lone Ranger and the Lost City of Gold'' is a 1958 American Western film in Eastmancolor released by United Artists. The second of two theatrical features specifically based on and continuing the TV show ''The Lone Ranger'' it stars Clayton Moore and Jay Silverheels, reprising their roles from the TV series. The first feature film was 1956's ''The Lone Ranger''. No further films based on this specific version of the characters were made after this one. Plot Three Indians were brutally murdered by a gang of hooded outlaws. Each one possessed a silver medallion, which were sections cut off from a large silver plaque which served as a treasure map to a secret location where a large amount of gold is reputedly stashed.
