Li Yuchun (; born March 10, 1984), also known by her stage name Chris Lee, is a Chinese singer, songwriter, DJ and actress. She launched her singing career by winning first place in the Chinese singing contest '' Super Girl'', in 2005. The following year, she released her debut album '' The Queen and the Dreams''. Referred to as the mother of the unisex look in China, she has achieved mainstream success. She is also known for her lower mezzo-soprano vocal range, a rarity amongst Mainland Chinese female singers. Mandopop
Mandopop or Mandapop refers to Standard Chinese, Mandarin popular music. The genre has its origin in the jazz-influenced popular music of 1930s Shanghai known as Shidaiqu; with later influences coming from Japanese enka, Hong Kong's Cantopop, Taiwan's Hokkien pop, and in particular the School campus song, Campus Song folk movement of the 1970s. 'Mandopop' may be used as a general term to describe popular songs performed in Mandarin. Though Mandopop predates Cantopop, the English term was coined around 1980 after "Cantopop" became a popular term for describing popular songs in Cantonese. Albert Leung (born 7 December 1961, ) is a lyricist and writer based in Hong Kong. Education Leung attended all-boy secondary schools at Chan Sui Ki (La Salle) College and La Salle College. He received a bachelor of arts in translation from the University of Hong Kong in 1984. Songwriting career He has been a Cantopop lyricist since 1985, using the pen name Lam Chik. The Chinese characters for this name, 林夕, written vertically, look like the compound (simplified) character (jyutping: mung6, pinyin: mèng), meaning "dream". He has written over 3500 song lyrics. Chan Fai-young (; born 25 September 1970) is a Hong Kong Cantopop composer. Chan was born in Macau in 1970. He attended Berklee College of Music, an American college in Boston, Massachusetts. Chan composed his first work in 1994, "Romantic White Paper" (), sung by Eric Suen Yiu-wai (). He composed other songs, including ones alongside lyricist Lin Xi, sung by many singers. Chinese (, especially when referring to written Chinese) is a group of languages spoken natively by the ethnic Han Chinese majority and many minority ethnic groups in Greater China.
