Old Georgian Club
Old Georgian Club is an Argentina, Argentine sports club. Although headquartered in Buenos Aires, most of Old Georgian's facilities and venue are located on Quilmes. Founded in 1908 by alumni of St. George's College, Quilmes, St. George's College of Quilmes, the club sees itself as a pillar of Buenos Aires' Great Britain, British community. The rugby union team currently competes in Primera C, the fourth division of the Unión de Rugby de Buenos Aires, URBA league system, while its field hockey teams are affiliated to the Buenos Aires Hockey Association. Other sections of the club are basketball, and association football, football. In cricket, Old Georgian was member of the Asociación Argentina de Cricket, Argentine Cricket Association and played in the national league. Cricket
Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). Means of dismissal include being bowled, when the ball hits the stumps and dislodges the bails, and by the fielding side either catching the ball after it is hit by the bat, but before it hits the ground, or hitting a wicket with the ball before a batter can cross the crease in front of the wicket. Scorpions RFC
The Scorpions RFC is an invitation rugby team in East Africa that was established upon principles that have many parallels with the Barbarian F.C. in terms of values, playing style, selection policy and the lack of a home ground. The team wears black shirts and white shorts and, like the original Barbarians and the French Barbarians, players wear socks of their choice provided that they have played for the team that the socks represent (the socks shown to the right are the original Harlequins socks which were also worn by Kenya Harlequins in the 1950s and 1960s). Club San Martín (formerly Pacific Rugby Athletic Club) is an Argentine sports club based in the Sáenz Peña neighborhood of Greater Buenos Aires. Quilmes, Buenos Aires
Quilmes () is a city on the coast of the Rio de la Plata, in the , on the south east of the Greater Buenos Aires. The city was founded in 1666 and it is the seat of the eponymous county. With a population of 230,810, it is located south of the capital of Argentina, the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires. History The ''Quilmes'' were a native tribe who lived in the surroundings of Tucumán. In the 17th century, after repeated attempts by the Spanish invaders to control their lands, the Quilmes were defeated and were forced to settle in a restricted colony ('' reducción'') near Buenos Aires, where the authorities could control them.
