Old Fletton Urban District
Old Fletton was an urban district in the county of Huntingdonshire and then (from 1965) Huntingdon and Peterborough. The urban district was abolished in 1974 under the Local Government Act 1972, and now forms part of the city of Peterborough in Cambridgeshire. Stanground North
Stanground North was a civil parish in the City of Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, England. The 2001 census recorded a population of zero. The parish, which covered open fields on a flood plain of the River Nene, has since been abolished as redundant. The parish was originally created in 1905, when Stanground parish was divided into two ( Stanground South becoming part of Old Fletton urban district), having hitherto been the only parish to still cross a county border. From then until 1974, it formed the only parish in Thorney Rural District apart from Thorney, Cambridgeshire, being in Isle of Ely until 1965 and then Huntingdon and Peterborough. History Of Peterborough
Peterborough () is a cathedral city in Cambridgeshire, east of England. It is the largest part of the City of Peterborough unitary authority district (which covers a larger area than Peterborough itself). It was part of Northamptonshire until 1974, when county boundary change meant the city became part of Cambridgeshire instead. The city is north of London, on the River Nene which flows into the North Sea to the north-east. In 2020 the built-up area subdivision had an estimated population of 179,349. Woodston is a largely residential and industrial area of the city of Peterborough, in the unparished area of Old Fletton, in the Peterborough district, in the ceremonial county of Cambridgeshire, England. It was created under the Local Government Act 1894, covering the parishes of Thorney and Stanground. It was considered part of the administrative county of the Isle of Ely. In 1904 Stanground was split, with the new parish Stanground North remaining in the district (and Isle of Ely), while the remainder, Stanground South, became part of the Old Fletton urban district in Huntingdonshire. Fletton is an area of the city of Peterborough, in the Peterborough district, in the ceremonial county of Cambridgeshire, England, south of the River Nene. Notable for its large brickworks, the area has given its name to "Fletton bricks", Administration Lying south of the River Nene, the area was historically part of Huntingdonshire (although not the present district of that name), rather than the Soke of Peterborough in Northamptonshire. It was divided into Old Fletton, which prior to the Local Government Act 1972 formed a separate town with its own council (Old Fletton Urban District) and New Fletton which, from 1874, was administered as part of Peterborough Municipal Borough.
